  • H ol y C ros s C a t hol i c C hu r c h “A community of disciples of Jesus Christ called to celebrate, proclaim, and share the love of God with all people.” March 4, 2018 Third Sunday of Lent

Good Lenten People of Holy Cross,

    Here’s a typical conversation:

    Hi! How are you?

    Answer: Fine. How are you?

    Answer: Fine.

Don’t you just love that ‘Fine’? Do you notice, when people

say something other than fine, we don’t want to listen. We ask

how someone “is” shouldn’t we be honest? And, even more

important, shouldn’t we listen if the answer is not “fine”?

Somebody pushes the question a little further: “Hey, what’s

been happening with you?” Our response: tell that person

everything that has been going right with us as if we have to

impress everyone with how “fine” we really are.

Me? I’m not “fine” and I don’t want to be. I’m “in process”.

Some days are better than others. I make tons of mistakes.

I’m a sinner. God isn’t finished with me yet, nor am I finished

with God. Jesus spends a lot of time with sinners, and I want to

spend time with Jesus precisely because of that fact! Jesus

calls sinners to repentance; to “turn life around”, to look with

different eyes, to check our perspective, to be open to

possibilities, to be going through the hard process of picking up

a cross and dying to self, so that there’s more of Jesus left

    when it’s over. Nope ~ “I’m not fine, I’m ‘in process.” I’m

working in this life to be justified, so that when I get to see God

face to face I will be saved. Right now I’m a sinner stumbling

after Jesus. And you know what? That’s a great place to

be. It’s not neat and nice and “fine.” Sometimes it hurts, and

often times it’s messy. But along the way, Jesus gives grace,

step by step, moment by moment, person by person. Nope.

Not “fine” at all. Just forgiven.

May your conversations with Jesus this Lent bring your heart

    much joy.

    Fr. Jude Michael

RENOVATION UPDATES Thank you for being so understanding!

Confessions will still be heard in the confessionals. You may still pray and light candles in our Saints corner. NO ONE is to enter church during the week, danger area! Our PB and spaghetti collection is in hallway leading to school. Concrete poured this week as well as iron works installed. Please be mindful of workers/dumpster and do not park and block possible ER vehicles. We are working on sound system.

    Buena Gente de Holy Cross,

    Esta es una conversación típica:

¡Hola! ¿Cómo estás? Respuesta: Bien, ¿y tú? Respuesta: Bien.

¿Yo? No estoy "bien" y no quiero estarlo.

    PRAY FOR PRIESTS

PRAY FOR PRIESTS A ministry of Holy Cross Parish

Pray daily for the priest assigned to that day.

O Jesus, eternal Priest, keep your priests, especially

within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart,

    where none may touch them.

Keep unstained their anointed hands, which daily touch Your Sacred Body.

Keep unsullied their lips, daily purpled with Your Precious Blood.

Keep pure and unearthly their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.

Let Your holy love surround them and shield them from the world’s contagion.

Bless their labors with abundant fruit and may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here and in heaven their beautiful

    and everlasting crown. Amen.
