    Good People of Holy Cross,

Happy September! St. Ignatius Loyola once said: “Pray, knowing everything depends upon God. Work, knowing everything depends upon you!” Prayer is our relationship with the God who made us, loves us, understands us, and forgives us. Do not pray for easy lives; pray to be stronger men and women. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers, but pray for powers equal to your tasks. Then the doing of your work shall be no miracle, but you shall be a miracle. Every day you shall wonder at yourself, at the richness of life which has come to you by the grace of God. I know how difficult it is to set aside some time for prayer. I know we get so busy about so many things that we forget. But Jesus says, “Do you really want what I have? I’m just waiting to give it to you.” This week just might be a good time to take a look at our prayer life or lack of it and make some adjustments. God doesn’t need prayer, but I know this: I sure do! May September’s beauty lead you to some wonderful prayerful moments.

Fr. Jude Michael Gente Buena de Holy Cross,

¡Feliz Septiembre!

    Padre Jude Michael

30 The feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross celebrates two historical events: the discovery of the True Cross by Saint Helena, in Jerusalem, and the dedication of the basilica and shrine built on Calvary by Constantine, which mark the site of the Crucifixion.

The feast, more than anything else, is a celebration and commemoration of God's greatest work: his sacrificial death on the Cross and His Resurrection. The entrance antiphon for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is: "We should glory in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, for he is our salvation”.

PRAY FOR PRIESTS A ministry of Holy Cross Parish

Pray daily for the priest assigned to that day.

O Jesus, eternal Priest, keep your priests, especially

within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart, where none may touch them.

Keep unstained their anointed hands, which daily touch Your Sacred Body.

Keep unsullied their lips, daily purpled with Your Precious Blood.

Keep pure and unearthly their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.

Let Your holy love surround them and shield them from the world’s contagion.

Bless their labors with abundant fruit and may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here and in heaven their beautiful

    and everlasting crown. Amen.
