Brian Booster, a representative of DePaul’s athletics interests, is having a party at his residence and invites Sarah, the girlfriend of Johnny Jumpshot, who is a men’s basketball prospective student-athlete.

Is the invitation permissible?

No. Not only is Brian prohibited from entertain-ing John, a prospective student-athlete, but he is also prohibited from entertaining John’s friends and family members.

Brian’s attempt to entertain Sarah and John represents a prohibited precollege expense. A booster is also prohibited from giving gifts or services including providing transportation to John or John’s relatives or friends. This prohibition applies to all prospective student athletes, even those who have signed a National Letter of Intent.

It will ensure that DePaul continues to deliver on our founding promise: an excellent education for any talented student who seeks it.

The Campaign supports dreams. Students come to DePaul from across the country and around the world. Their dreams are manycand varied, individual to each, as our students come from all stations in life. Many are the first in their family to attend college.

The realization of their dreams gives rise to new dreams and strong communities. The Campaign supports DePaul’s mission, a mission which blends opportunity and excellence, inquiry and discovery, service to the individual and benefit to the larger community. It is manifested in the work that goes on here every day, in libraries, classrooms, laboratories, practice rooms and on the stage in hours of solitude and moments of connection

ATHLETICS CAPITAL CAMPAIGN NEARS $9.5 MILLION MARKAthletics provides an avenue of opportunity for students at DePaul.
