Moatside Tea Room & Gift ShopThe charming Moatside Tearoom offers superb homemade cakes and scones and light lunches, all in an atmospheric historic setting. High Tea is also available on pre-booking. The Hall’s gift shop offers a selection of Fairtrade and unusual gifts and books.

School, Parish or Group Visits

With a Sandford Award-winning educational offer, Harvington Hall provides

a fascinating and enjoyable learning experience. Pupils will

have the opportunity to undertake a focused guided tour, and Tudor activity days offer the opportunity to experience life in the Tudor kitchen and how it differs to the dress, manners and dancing of Tudor high society. Harvington also welcomes pre-booked adult groups and retreats, offering guided tours, refreshments, and the opportunity to celebrate Mass in the Georgian Chapel if desired.

Family or Business OccasionsHarvington Hall is a unique and charming venue for small wedding receptions, family occasions and business meetings. Single rooms may be hired, or we can offer exclusive use of the house and gardens. The Hall's beautiful grounds can also be hired for wedding photographs.

Elizabethan Wall PaintingsA remarkable collection of rare Elizabethan wall paintings were discovered under whitewash in 1936. Including significant arabesque drawings and the figures of the Nine Worthies, the extraordinary paintwork can be found throughout many rooms of the Hall, heightening its distinctive character, and adding warmth and colour to its interiors. Many of these paintings also have a religious significance, such as the red and white drops in the Small Chapel representing the blood and water of the Passion of Christ.

The GardensThe Hall’s beautiful moatside gardens offer a peaceful retreat, with a stunning display of colour and a variety of styles. Boasting a formal herb garden and courtyard, a wildflower garden and cottage-style floral borders, the Hall’s gardens are lovingly tended by dedicated volunteers.

The Malt House Visitor Centre & Georgian Chapel

The eighteenth-century Malt House provides visitors with the opportunity to discover the malting process used for the purpose of brewing beer. It also reveals the 600-year history of the Hall and life on its estates, and features childrens' activities and historic games. Also on the moated island, the Georgian Chapel is a peaceful space. Damaged by fire in 1823, after repairs it became the village school until 1913. It was restored and reopened for worship in the 1980s, and is still used for Mass today.

The HallA house full of secrets, Harvington Hall was built in the 1580s by Humphrey Pakington, who was a recusant Catholic under the Protestant rule of Elizabeth I. The Hall brings to life the fascinating history of the survival of Catholic families and clergymen at a time when it was high treason for a Catholic priest to be in England. The remarkable survival of its priests' hiding places and rare Elizabethan wall paintings, together with its unique character, make Harvington Hall an extraordinary place with a captivating story, never to be forgotten.

Priest HidesHarvington Hall boasts the largest surviving collection of priests' hiding places in the country. Built in the time of Humphrey Pakington (1555-1631), some of these hides are believed to be the work of the ingenious carpenter and hide-builder, Nicholas Owen, who was arrested in 1606 and tortured to death in the Tower of London. Free guided tours of the Hall will reveal the secrets of the hides, which remain largely unaltered from their original state.
