Little Company of Mary Hospital celebrated the grand opening of its newest medical facility on Sat-urday, August 4th. 6700 West 95th in Oak Lawn is now the proud home of a 51,000 sq. foot three-story state-of-the-art medical and diagnostics facility, known as the Outpatient Care Center.

The celebration commenced with a warm welcome by Dennis Reilly, President and CEO. “Less than one year ago we celebrated the ground-breaking for what would become our beautiful Outpatient Care Cen-ter. The center offers state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging technology and experienced physicians that our Oak Lawn family has grown to trust,” said Dennis Reilly. After the closing remarks and prayer, the celebration began with family friendly activities for the community including face painting, magicians, jugglers, music and plen-ty of delicious ice cream to cool the community on the hot summer day.

Nearly 500 people toured the Out-patient Care Center, getting a sneak peak at the immediate care center, The Care Station. The tour started in the main level of the center’s tri-age and trauma unit. A special exam room in the trauma unit was de-signed to evaluate and stabilize pa-tients ranging from a coughs and colds, fractures, to an acute heart attack or stroke. The center’s space allows for emergency responders

to transfer acute patients privately through a separate doorway. A total of eight treatment rooms and one occupational health room were built to mirror one another for the convenience of caregivers to ac-cess patient information and medi-cal tools and/or equipment. The occupational health room provides drug and alcohol screenings, spi-rometry (pulmonary function tests), and audiograms (hearing tests) to employers seeking the well being of their employees. Just footsteps from the entrance, the community was able to tour the state-of-the-art diagnostics and imaging suites ranging from X-ray, echocardiography and ultrasound units rendering high quality im-ages, to the comprehensive digital mammography and CT-suites. The mammography suite features a ful-ly digital mammography unit with exceptional imaging to ensure the highest quality screenings and Com-puterized Aided Detection (CAD), which is special software, designed to achieve accurate interpretations. The CT scanner has the latest tech-nology, offering superior resolution and accuracy, while holding radia-tion doses to the minimum, all in a calm and comforting environment.

Golf Outing

Mother Nature was all smiles on this sunshiny day of August 25, 2012. The event had been planned a year in advance. It was the 12th Annual St. George Golf Outing to be held at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont, IL. This golf outing is the biggest fundraiser of our parish, St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Cicero, IL. Our Pastor, The Very Rev. Economos Fr. Nicholas Dah-dal played his one day of golf for the year, once a year, every year at this very St. George Golf Outing. Nearly 80 golfers, in total, had registered for this most important

event in the church. The day started with each golfer teamed in pairs, 4 to each hole. Whether or not you were an avid golfer or just a novice, did not matter in the least. Everybody came with their best golf outfit on, and the

best game they could muster. All this for the glory of God and the love of Jesus Christ. We golfed the typical 18 holes, which most people were able to complete, but some called it a day a little early with the summer heat heavily tanning their face and bodies, and proceeded to the dining hall for rest time before dinner. Many prizes were awarded for a hole-in-one shot, best scorecard, and the longest drive. You could smell the competition with-in each foursome from a distance. After the day of golfing was completed, and the last peo-ple filed in from the course to the club house, everyone settled into the seats at select tables around their fami-lies or closest friends. As a wonderful buffet style meal was served, many luxurious items were raffled off, ev-

The fortunate grand raffle prize winner, and all the other winners, were ecstatic about their good luck.

The entire day was co-ordinated by an amaz-ing Golf Outing com-mittee that worked for many months to acquire the necessary sponsors for holes. Plaques were made for each level of spon-sorship. Both the commit-tee and the most generous sponsors are what made the event a smashing success for St. George. It took a lot of hard work from caring and selfless volunteers to make it happen. With this event, we are able to run most of the necessary functions of the church throughout the year. With the results far exceeding our loftiest expectations, the 12th Annual Golf Outing was indeed a grand suc-cess, and has given next year’ s outing a much higher bar to reach. We thank everyone who attended, volunteered, and sponsored. May God bless each and everyone one of them, and continue to shine a bright light on the St. George community and all of its supporters.
