It is derived from the Sapsal-gae, an indigenous canine breed that originated from Daegu and its regions, which is recognised as 'Natural Monument No. 368' in Korea. The mascot symbolises good fortune, and its warm and happy features represent a warm welcome to the host city. Daegu Stadium The Daegu Stadium is the largest stadium in Korea and was completed in 2001, in time tohost the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the 2003 Summer Universiade. Among the facilities,the stadium boasts two large electronic scoreboards and Teflon-coated roofs that cover atleast 70 percent of the stadium, which allow for natural sunlight as well as protect thespectators from the natural elements.

The stadium is equipped with state-of-the-art technical facilities and has an IAAF-CertifiedClass 1 track surface. The track will be resurfaced with Mondo products. Furtherimprovements are in the works to satisfy even the most demanding expectations fromthe IAAF and the thousands of athletics enthusiasts.We are ready and look forward to the challenge of hosting nine spectacular days of
