THE CITY OF MARRAKESH

This historical City, founded in 1066 AD has a population of 680 000. Located at 220 km south east of Casablanca, it has known a tremendous growth and attention from millions of tourists all over the World as well as local visitors and inverstors. Because of its climate, historic monuments, outstanding landscape and incomparable hotel capacity and quality,Marrakesh is and will remain an inforgetable experience for any visitor.

USEFUL INFORMATION

The languages spoken in Morocco are Arabic, French and Berber but one will be surprised how many other foreign languages are spoken throughout the streets of Marrakesh because of the outstanding tourist activity.

The currency is the dirham.(1 US$=9.05 dirhams as of 13 of June 2005.)

The voltage is 220 V A.C.

The tap water in the hotels is drinkable.

ARRIVAL IN MARRAKESH Airport Welcome Welcome desks will be operating at both Casablanca Mohamed V Airport and Marrakesh-Menera International Airport. The staff will provide the necessary information and assistance to all arriving delegations prior to accreditation and accommodation procedures. To avoid tiring delay du to accreditation procedures, the athletes and team officials will be taken immediately to the accomodation centers. It is about a 10 minute drive from the Airport to the hotels.

Accreditation procedures Only the Team Leaders will be taken to the Atlas Marrakech Hotel where the accreditation centre is located. Here the Team Leadres will be asked to complete the usual formalities before collecting the accreditation cards :

TEAM ATTACHES Team attaches trained for this purpose will be assigned to each delegation upon arrival at the Airport. These volunteers will assist every one in baggage claim, transportation, accreditation, accomodation and other matters relevant to the Championships.

Bib Numbers There will be a total of 3 numbers for each athlete taking part in the competition: 2 umbers for their competition vest and one for their bag. They will be distributed at the echnical Meeting.
