Message from the NASA Administrator2010 Agency Honor Awards

As we recognize our extraordinary colleagues today, I want to thank the entireNASA workforce for its outstanding effort in 2009. Whether it was astoundingwork on orbit, extending our reach throughout the cosmos, or demonstratingnew technologies on Earth and inspiring the next generation, we all can be veryproud of the agency's accomplishments. Today, we salute some very specialmen and women who are leaders in their chosen areas.

In 2009, we expanded the long-term presence on the International Space Stationto six crewmembers. We rejuvenated the Hubble Space Telescope and preparedit for many more years of discovery. We launched the Lunar ReconnaissanceOrbiter as the first of a planned fleet of robotic missions. And we demonstratedan innovative inflatable heat shield technology that could be invaluable to futureexplorers. These are just a few of the many ways you and your colleagues haveadvanced NASA's mission for the benefit of our country and the world. In everycorner of the agency, at every field center, milestones like these are creating animpressive legacy and bright future for all of us.

The men and women receiving awards here today dedicate their professionalenergies and personal passion toward helping the agency make progresstoward our big dreams for tomorrow. There's a reason we call these HonorAwards -- you bring honor to all of us and to NASA.
