Fifth Sunday of Easter GROW AS A DISCIPLE: Today’s readings are at once challenging and reassuring.
Challenging, because we are to remain in Christ, by “keeping his commandments and
doing what pleases him”; and reassuring, because we know that the Holy Spirit is
with us and we can “have confidence in God and receive from him whatever we ask.”
As Jesus says to us, “I am the vine, you are the branches… without me you can do
nothing.”
Through the Eucharist, the sacraments of the Church, Sacred Scripture, and in
belonging to a faith community, God gives us many ways to grow closer to Jesus, and
to direct our life toward him. In the pruning of sinful habits from our lives and build-
ing us up, through grace, to walk in the fear of the Lord, God transforms our hearts
so that we remain in him, and he in us. And with the help of the Holy Spirit, we are
enabled to speak out boldly in the name of the Lord.
GO EVANGELIZE: Just as the new life and growth of spring me is already very
visible in many parts of the United States, today’s first reading describes a kind of
spring me in the Church. Even as Saul faced mul ple death threats, he con nued to
boldly proclaim the Good News. “The church throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Sa-
maria was at peace. It was being built up and walked in the fear of the Lord, and
with the consola on of the Holy Spirit it grew in numbers.”
Today, many Chris ans around the world face persecu on for their beliefs or
live in ci es or countries where violence, poverty, or hunger threaten their lives. We,
too, face challenges and hardships. Life is not easy! Let us find “consola on” in the
Holy Spirit and build up the Church and one another through prayer, generosity, and
friendship.
PRAY: Consider spending an hour with Jesus in Eucharis c adora on. Find a
small way to build up the Church beyond your family and parish by praying for Chris-
ans in other parts of the world.

Holy Hour for Vocations This Sunday, May 2nd, at 7:00 PM, in the Upper Church, our Parish Voca on

Mother’s Day All of our Mother’s Day weekend Masses will be offered for
all mothers in our parish, living and deceased. We will con nue
the tradi on of placing Mother’s Day inten ons on the high altar,
next to the tabernacle, throughout that weekend as a sign of our
commitment to pray for all our mothers. If you would like to add
your inten ons, please pick up a Mother’s Day envelope in
church.
Construction The Board of Educa on will spend this whole week to
construct a walkway for students to safely enter our school
building. Therefore, our convent parking lot will be temporarily
closed. Our daily English Masses will be celebrated in the Upper
Church. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.

Quinto Domingo de Pascua CRECER COMO DISCÍPULO: Las lecturas de hoy son a la vez desa iantes y
alentadoras. Desa iantes, porque debemos permanecer en Cristo, “guardando sus mandamientos y haciendo lo que le agrada”; y alentadoras, porque sabemos que el Espritu Santo esta con nosotros y podemos “tener con ianza en Dios y recibir de él todo lo que le pidamos.” Como Jesus nos dice: “Yo soy la vid, ustedes son los sarmientos... sin mí, nada pueden hacer.”
A traves de la Eucarista, los sacramentos de la Iglesia, la Sagrada Escritura y perteneciendo a una comunidad de fe, Dios nos da muchos caminos para acercar- nos a Jesus y orientar nuestra vida hacia el. Al eliminar los habitos pecaminosos de nuestra vida y edi icarnos mediante la gracia, para caminar en el temor del Senor, Dios transforma nuestro corazon para que permanezcamos en el y el en nosotros. Y con la ayuda del Espritu Santo, podemos hablar con valenta en el nombre del Senor.

Fue edi icada y caminaba en el temor del Señor, y con el consuelo del Espíritu Santo creció en número.”

Quinto Domingo de Pascua CRECER COMO DISCÍPULO: Las lecturas de hoy son a la vez desa iantes y
alentadoras. Desa iantes, porque debemos permanecer en Cristo, “guardando sus mandamientos y haciendo lo que le agrada”; y alentadoras, porque sabemos que el Espritu Santo esta con nosotros y podemos “tener con ianza en Dios y recibir de él todo lo que le pidamos.” Como Jesus nos dice: “Yo soy la vid, ustedes son los sarmientos... sin mí, nada pueden hacer.”
A traves de la Eucarista, los sacramentos de la Iglesia, la Sagrada Escritura y perteneciendo a una comunidad de fe, Dios nos da muchos caminos para acercar- nos a Jesus y orientar nuestra vida hacia el. Al eliminar los habitos pecaminosos de nuestra vida y edi icarnos mediante la gracia, para caminar en el temor del Senor, Dios transforma nuestro corazon para que permanezcamos en el y el en nosotros. Y con la ayuda del Espritu Santo, podemos hablar con valenta en el nombre del Senor.
IR A EVANGELIZAR: As como la nueva vida y el crecimiento de la primavera ya son muy visibles en muchas partes de los Estados Unidos, la primera lectura de hoy describe una especie de primavera en la Iglesia. Incluso cuando Saulo enfrento multiples amenazas de muerte, continuo proclamando con valenta las Buenas Nuevas. “La iglesia de toda Judea, Galilea y Samaria gozaban de paz. Fue edi icada y caminaba en el temor del Señor, y con el consuelo del Espíritu Santo creció en número.”
Hoy en da, muchos Cristianos de todo el mundo enfrentan persecucion por sus creencias o viven en ciudades o pases en donde la violencia, la pobreza o el hambre amenazan sus vidas. Nosotros tambien enfrentamos desafos y di iculta- des. ¡La vida no es facil! Encontremos el “consuelo” en el Espritu Santo y edi i- quemos la Iglesia y los unos a los otros mediante la oracion, la generosidad y la amistad.
ORAR: Considere pasar una hora con Jesus en la adoracion Eucarstica. En- cuentre una pequena manera de construir la Iglesia mas alla de su familia y pa- rroquia, orando por los Cristianos en otras partes del mundo.

Día de las Madres Todas nuestras Misas del in de semana del Día de las
Madres seran ofrecidas para todas las madres en nuestra parroquia, vivas y difuntas. Vamos a seguir la tradicion de colocar las intenciones del Día de las Madres todo en el altar mayor, al lado del tabernaculo, a lo largo de ese in de sema- na como una senal de nuestro compromiso de orar por nuestras madres. Construcción La Junta de Educación estara toda la semana constru-
