Christopher Hitchcock Inspira onal Science Award

The second annual Christopher Hitchcock Inspirational Science Award and $1000.00 schol-arship was awarded by Palma School to Mat-thew Morasca at the school’s award ceremony on April 30. Palma’s Class of 2019 graduated on May 26. Chris graduated from Palma in 1977 and earned his Master's Degree from UC Davis with the intention of entering Med School to become a doctor. Unfortunately he was prevented form doing so due to complications from cerebral pal-sy. Chris did pass away in April of 2017. In his honor and memory a scholarship and award was created to help others in their medical or scien-tific path. The winner is chosen on the basis of Scho-lastic Aptitude, Personal Fortitude, and Joyful Regard of Others, emulating Chris. Donations to Chris’s fund are still being ac-cepted. Through numerous personal contribu-tions, we are half way to our goal of $30,000 to perpetuate the scholarship. To make an endow-ment, you may send a check to Palma School, 919 Iverson St., Salinas, CA 93901, or go online to palmaschool.org and designate the gift to be directed to the Chris Hitchcock Schol-arship Fund
