Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time _September 20, 2020

DEAR PARISHIONERS AND FRIENDS

The prophet Isaiah said that: “God’s ways are not our ways; His thoughts are not out thoughts.” meaning that God’s generosity and mercy is beyond our own understanding and knowledge. He who knows each heart and mind, is the only one who can judge each one of us right. The prophet Isaiah advises us in his writing to seek the Lord, being this is an invitation to grace; a grace that is constant and always avail-able, and generous in its forgiveness. It is a promise of deep and perpetual care by a God, who even though is completely different from us in his thoughts and ways, He is never end-ing in his love and mercy. In the second reading, Saint Paul tells the Phi-lippians that Christ will be magnified in his body, whether by life or by death. And though Paul longs to be with Jesus in the next life, it is better that he remains with them now. In the Gospel, Jesus tells a parable about work-ers in a vineyard, emphasizing the generosity of the landowner to all who labored. In today’s Gospel we see people who are seek-ing for an opportunity to make their living, like millions of people in the world who are facing economical crisis, are in need, and unem-ployed. What the landowner sees is their avail-ability to work, he sees their financial situation and he knows there are no many opportunities around for them. What happens about the times they started working was casualty, some of these workers met the opportunity in early morning, others at midday and others at the end of the afternoon when they had less chances to find an oppor-tunity. The reward was the same for all of them, an equally daily wage. In this passage we can see how different our ways are from God’s ways. We see justice from a different way and perspective from what God sees it. He knows better than us. Let us trust always His will on our lives. Have a blessed week. Fr. Henry Ramirez
