VDSL2 Background

• VDSL2 (Very High Speed Digital Subscriber Line Version 2) is the newest and most advanced standard for broadband over existing copper infrastructure

• VDSL2 has been standardized as ITU G.993.2

• VDSL2 uses DMT (Discrete Multi-Tone) and is spectrally compatible with ADSL2+, if sharing binder group

• VDSL2 utilizes up to 30MHz to deliver 100/100 Mbps

• VDSL2 outperforms ADSL2+ up to 2km (6500 feet)

• VDSL2 utilizes EFM (Ethernet Framing) and delivers 15% improvement over ADSL2+ by avoiding ATM cell tax

• ADSL2+ widely deployed technology for serving high-speed data from CO(up to 18,000 ft). ADSL2+ utilizes 12Mhz of spectrum and is limited to speeds of 24Mbps/downstream and 1.3Mbps/upstream
