• Bharti Foundation

– Bharti Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies.

– The Foundation aims to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential.

• Satya Bharti School Program

– The Satya Bharti School Program is the flagship program of Bharti Foundation.

– It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with special focus on the girl child across rural India.

– The program goal is to establish 500 Primary and 50 Senior Schools reaching out to over 200,000 students

– The promise of this large scale program, through its operation, is to create a replicable, scalable and holistic model of quality education in rural India

– Present Operational Status:

• Number of Schools Operational: 236

• States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Tamil Nadu

• Number of Students Enrolled: Over 30,000

Geographical Location:

– Nareda Khurd is situated approx. 30 km from NH-8 and District office of Bharti Foundation.

– The nearest Sr. Sec. School is in village Doomroli which is approx. 4-5 km. – There is no public transportation facility so that people have to walk or travel by

own conveyance from the main bus station Kadipuri,which is approx. 12 km from the village.

– The Nearest Health Centre is Kaysa which is approx. 8-9 km. – The nearest Police station is Mandhan which is approx. 28 km from the village.– The nearest market is Narnaul which is approx. 14 km from the village– Drinking water facility provided by government and constructed water supply tank,

apart from this Hand pumps and bore wells are other source of water.– The main occupation of villagers are agriculture, Government servant and working

as Daily Laborers. – The Total Population of Village is 980.– The village is well connected with Electricity.

Cultural Background

– The villagers belongs to Hindu Community .– Dominant cast is Yadav. – They followed the all Hindu rituals and festivals– The dressing style of community is long white Kurta & Dhoti / Pant &

Shirt, for men and women dressing style is Ghagra & Odhni. – They are the followers of all Hindu God & Goddess.– Village women always in long veil and it’s a part of their culture.

• There are lots of problem in the village but illiteracy is one of the major problem among women. No body is able to write their name and they are using the thumb impression while signing any documents.

• Illiteracy and ignorance is found as the main cause. Our kids decided to make a remarkable change to initiate step against illiteracy, in this community by counselling individuals, groups along with the nukad natak planned by them.

• Organised a meeting with community people to make them understand about the initiative of Satya Bharti School.

• Organised the rally against illiteracy in community.

• Make them aware about importance of Education.

• Daily we held classes for the community and educated them in small groups.

• Conducted Street play in different location of community on importance of Education.

• More than 80 community women are able to write their name in Hindi.

• Make community people literate.• People understand the importance of education and its benefits

in their life.• They feel self dependent and confident.• They are more curious to learn new things, and they want to

make their children educated.

• Understand the felt need of community and work on it which gives new learning to them .

• Children feel proud to be a part of this campaign and become change agents in the community.

• Staff members gained the confidence to deal with community problems which is totally different from daily class room teaching.

• They are curious to do such activity in near future and willing to do something different from their daily routine work.

Experience of Community Members & Teachers:

• The teachers realise that they have done something special which make real difference in the life of community people.

• The community people feel that they can learn even at the age of 50 also.

• We will be in touch with community people and adopt the policy of reach one teach one.

• We will monitor their progress on weekly basis and call them in Parents Teachers meeting so that we can discuss with them.

• We will try to identify other community problem and prepare the action plan for the same.
