Your middle school and high school students will promote healthy habits when they use social media to share pictures taken in front of a Dive into a Healthy School Breakfast backdrop. Students can pose in front of it each day during School Breakfast Week. It will be fun and motivational as students take action to show their support for school breakfasts and healthy lifestyles. Instructions for Using Selfie Backdrops 1. Place the two backdrop posters provided by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) side by side on a wall with at least 60 inches by 70 inches of clear space. If space is limited, display one as a selfie backdrop and display the other in a visible area in the school to promote School Breakfast Week.. 2. Use push pins or tape to hang backdrops. 3. Hang backdrops so that the bottom is 32 inches from the ground. 4. Place props to the side of the selfie station so students can easily grab one to use in the photo. 5. If possible, have someone monitor the props to keep them organized and available for students. Encourage students to bring their own props that reflect a healthy breakfast or that day’s activity. 6. Encourage students to take the selfies with their meals. For students’ photos to be featured on TDA’s SBW Web page next year, send a photo release home with them and return the signed document and photo to [email protected]. 7. Consider ordering the TDA floor decal to mark the area in front of the selfie backdrop poster and create a selfie station. This item also can be placed on walls, doors and windows.
