Bones / Huesos

The human skeleton consists of 206 bones different in size, shape and weight.

Function of the skeleton, include supporting the body, protecting the body cavities.

Is divided into 2 major parts: The axial skeleton is composed of the skull, vertebral column, sternum and ribs.

The appendicular skeleton is composed of the upper and lower extremities.

The skull contains 22 bones.

The face contains 14 bones.

The column contains 31 bones.

Ligaments / Ligamentos

Are a fibrous tissue that connect bone to bone.

Tendons / Tendones

Are a thick fibrous tissue that connects muscle and bone.

Muscle / Músculos

They are primarily responsible for maintaining and changing posture, locomotion, as well as movement of internal organs, such as the contraction of the heart and the movement of food through the digestive system via peristalsis.

There are three types of muscle, skeletal or striated, cardiac, and smooth.

Skeletal muscle or "voluntary muscle" is anchored by tendons to bone and is used to effect skeletal movement such as locomotion {power of moving from place to place} and in maintaining posture.

Muscle / Músculos

Cardiac muscle (myocardium), is also an "involuntary muscle" but is more akin in structure to skeletal muscle, and is found only in the heart.

Smooth muscle or "involuntary muscle" is found within the walls of organs and structures such as the esophagus, stomach, intestines, bronchi, uterus, urethra, bladder, blood vessels, and the arrector pili in the skin (in which it controls erection of body hair). Unlike skeletal muscle, smooth muscle is not under conscious control.

Articulaciones

Unión, generalmente movible, de dos o más huesos. Coyuntura.

La articulación de 2 o mas huesos permite varios tipos de movimientos. La extensión y la clase de movimientos determinan el nombre que se ha aplicado a la articulación. La estructura del hueso limita la forma y la cantidad de movimientos de cada articulación.

Algunas articulaciones son muy limitadas mientras que otras tienen una variedad de grados de movimientos. El tipo y el grado de movimiento son similares en todos los seres humanos sin embargo la libertad, la amplitud y la fuerza de movimientos están limitados por los ligamentos y los músculos.

Articulación Sinartrósicas {inmóviles}

Se encuentran en las suturas de los huesos craneales fusionándolos con fibrocartílago en la articulación.

Articulación Anfiartrósicas {Poco movimiento}

I. Sindesmosis

Tipo de articulación que junto con estructuras ligamentosas fuertes, permite movimientos mínimos entre los huesos.

Encontramos ejemplos en la articulación acromioclavicular y en la articulación tibioperonea inferior.

Articulación Anfiartrósicas {Poco movimiento}

II. Sincondrosis Tipo de articulación separada

por un fibrocartílago que permite movimientos muy limitados entre los huesos.

Algunos ejemplos son la sínfisis del pubis y la articulaciones costocondrales de las costillas con el esternón.

Articulaciones Diartrósicas {movimiento libre}

I. Gliding / Artrodia Dos superficies óseas planas

que chocan una con otra, permitiendo un movimiento ligamentoso limitado.

Ejemplo, los huesos carpianos de la muñeca y las articulaciones tarso-metatarsianas del pie.

Articulaciones Diartrósicas {movimiento libre}

II. Condyloid / Cóndilo Tipo de articulación donde

los hueso permiten un movimiento en dos planos sin rotación.

Ejemplos, la muñeca entre el radio y la hilera proximal de los huesos carpianos o la 2da, 3ra, 4ta y 5ta articulación metacarpo falángica.

III. Ball and socket / Enartrosis Tipo de articulación que

permite movimiento en todos los planos.

Ejemplo en el hombro {glenohumeral y en la articulación de la cadera}.

IV. Hinge / Tróclea Tipo de articulación que permite

un amplio abanico de movimientos en un único plano.

Ejemplo; articulación del codo, tobillo y la rodilla.

V. Saddle / En silla de montar

Este tipo de unión recíproca se encuentra en la articulación carpo metacarpiana del pulgar y permite un movimiento esférico.

movimiento rotatorio a lo largo de un eje largo.
