About Cindy Hanauer:Cindy Hanauer was born into a 4-generation lineage of florists, with

her ancestors emigrating from Germany in 1875 to open their first

florist shop and greenhouse in the United States.

Cindy’s maternal grandparents opened their first florist and

greenhouse business in 1934 during the midst of the Great

Depression. She watched and learned from the time she was a

small child, as her grandparents’ faith, dedication, perseverance

and strong work ethic built a very successful floral and greenhouse business over the next 40 years.

In 1974, Cindy began her 40-year career in the mass market industry, holding leadership

positions in every aspect of the mass market floral business: Retail Sales, Visual Merchandising,

Product Development, Field Training, Category Management, Marketing, Quality Assurance and

Supply Chain. In 2010, Cindy expanded her career exponentially by successfully managing the

Merchandising, Quality Assurance and Supply Chain for an ecommerce floral and gift platform.

About Paul Sable:Paul Sable has been involved in the balloon industry for close to 20 years.

He started at Anagram International in 1996 as a manager of specialty developed custom foil balloons. Managing various aspects of balloon development and production, he saw the importance of visual merchandising. The retail chain Party City experienced immediate sales increases for foil balloons with the development of the balloon wall and valance system that Paul created.

As Vice President of Anagram Marketing and New Product Development, Paul routinely visits retail stores to evaluate the best merchandising practices. His industry knowledge and artistic eye allow him to use materials to create emotional connections with shoppers.

About the Moderators:Peggy Williams has worked in the floral and balloon industry for nearly three decades. Starting her own balloon décor business in the early 1980s, Peggy quickly realized there was a growing need for professional education among her colleagues. She began sharing her knowledge with others and soon became a highly sought after instructor. Over the years, she has worked with many of the top balloon manufacturers to train supermarket floral attendants on ways for retailers to implement balloons into their merchandising displays. Her infectious energy and sense of humor has educated and entertained seminar attendees from

coast-to-coast. Those who have attended burton + BURTON’s Ballooniversity in recent years will recognize Peggy as one of the headline instructors. She currently serves as Education Coordinator for burton + BURTON, and spends much of the year traveling the country sharing the joy and profitability of balloons. as she presents product demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and design seminars throughout the country for wholesalers, garden clubs, and civic organizations. She recently presented her critically acclaimed program, The Language of Flowers, on the main stage at the AIFD National Symposium, Transition Transformation, in Chicago. Loann currently serves as Design Director for OASIS® Floral Products. She is past President of the North Central Chapter of AIFD and serves as Chairman of AIFD Certification. Loann holds a Bachelor’s degree with Distinction in horticulture from Purdue University, and a Master’s degree in Marketing from Wright State University.

rita Peters has worked in the floral industry since she was 18. She graduated from Iowa State University with a Horticulture degree and began working with Hy-Vee in 1988. She has held positions as Floral Manager and Floral Supervisor and is currently the AVP of Floral operations where she oversees 184 full service floral shops in 8 states.

Rita is part of the Hy-Vee Get Growing Team, where she answers lawn & garden questions weekly for customers as well as give tips on a variety of subjects- plant care, holiday décor, tree & shrub care, and more. To see
