Message from the

CEO

As parents, it’s our instinct to want the best for our children, to watch them grow, thrive and be happy. Education is a fundamental part of this process, providing the knowledge and opportunity for every child to reach their full potential.

At Ashby Knight, our work is provided by impassioned tutors keen to share their subject knowledge and teaching experience to nurture the next generation. I’m proud of their credentials and their undying enthusiasm, and of the results they consistently achieve with each of our cohort of students.

There are lots of reasons why students choose to replace or supplement their education with private tuition at Ashby Knight. The learning environment of school is often challenging, students may struggle to focus in large classroom environments, or lack the confidence they need to realise they can achieve their learning goals. They may also wish to go the extra mile, to excel and achieve the grades they need to be able to pursue their career goals. Whatever the needs and motivations, we’re here to help.

We offer both individual and group tuition in subjects across the curriculum, from KS2 to A-level. Group students join online sessions with peers, at a set day and time. Individual students follow our on-boarding process as follows:

Initial consultationWe start with a conversation to get to know your child, and to find out more about their current needs and subject interests.

Develop a needs analysis reportFollowing our initial consultation, we provide a needs analysis report where we identify the level of support we recommend to achieve the goals you and your child have set.

Tutor selectionWe match one or more of our tutors to your child depending on the number of subjects we will be providing tuition for.

Personalised planYour tutor assesses your child and creates a personalised plan of study within an agreed or open timescale.

Lessons beginYour child attends their first e-learning, interactive lesson with their tutor.

Monitoring and feedbackWe monitor your child’s progress and provide regular feedback via our online reporting portal to enable you to keep abreast of progress and consult with us further should you wish.

Key Stage 2–7 11 years Whether you are preparing your child for entrance examinations to prep or boarding schools, or wish to support them during their regular educational journey, we provide tailored tuition across all curriculum subjects. Our teaching methods aim to nurture a life-long love of learning. Lessons are interactive so students remain fully engaged, embedding knowledge at a deeper level through increased enjoyment of the subject.

Key Stage 3 & 4 11–16 yearsThese are important years as students prepare for GCSE or N5s in Scotland, and are a popular time for students to seek further support to boost their learning. Help is provided in teaching the curriculum as well as providing support for revision and exam technique. Our tutors are adept at boosting confidence and reassuring students of their ability so that they approach exams calmly and with a ‘can-do’ attitude.

A-levels 17–18 yearsAt this stage in a child’s school life, thoughts are turning to what comes next. A-level or Scottish Higher results play a crucial role in opening doors to the future. We work with students in this age group to supplement and progress their independent learning. We match students with tutors with an academic specialism in their chosen subject, to act as teacher and mentor so that they feel well prepared with the knowledge they need to sit their exams calmly, and with confidence.

Online tuitionWith access to tutors via our online learning management system, we offer flexible ways of learning.

Private tuitionOur one to one tuition matches your child with a personal tutor. The sessions can take place on a date and time to suit you and at a frequency of your choice.

Group tuitionWe host group tuition sessions on a regular basis on most of the core curriculum subjects. These take place at a set time and date, with students learning alongside their peers. Group sessions will typically have between 5 – 10 students attending at one time.

TutorsQuality of education is of utmost importance to us, which is why we use stringent selection procedures for all of our tutors. All of our teachers are experienced and have an academic background. They are QTS/PGCE qualified and DBS checked with many coming from Oxford, Cambridge or Russell group universities, so you can be assured of their credentials and the passion they have for their work and their student’s success.

We are particularly proud of the service we provide to schools, offering supplementary learning options for pupils who have special needs, struggle in a classroom environment or who may have been excluded.

This support involves offering one to one or small group tuition across all mainstream curriculum subjects, from KS2 to A-level years.

Our specialist school support team works with head teachers, and subject leads to provide a learning plan for students to help them with specific or more general learning needs. This has proved very successful and we are proud of our track record.

Home schooling is an education of choice for many parents, including those travelling or living abroad through work commitments, or for children who struggle with the normal classroom and school environment.

Ashby Knight is an Ofsted registered organisation providing a comprehensive curriculum of education from KS2 to A-level years.

We promote a strong teacher/parent relationship using our online learning management system, keeping you up to date with all aspects of school work and your child’s progress.

In addition to providing an outstanding private tuition service, we offer the following supplementary services so support your child throughout their education.

MentoringAt Ashby Knight we believe every learner is unique. Our Oxbridge/Russell Group educated hand-picked consultants will create a personalised education and career plan to guide your child and help them achieve their goals and ambitions. We will help you design a life coaching and guardianship programme to maximise their career outcomes. This will include a plan for academic progress, an extra-curricular strategy, personality development and progress monitoring.

University and careers guidanceWe are aware that any educational admissions process is a difficult experience. This is where we come in. We offer strategic guidance and support to students for university placements and admissions. Students with a global outlook can take advantage of our services.

International Student SupportIf you live or work abroad and need support for your child to complete their education in the UK, we can help in many ways.
