Starting ADS

Starting ADS – click “Create a new project”

Starting ADS – type in the title of the project and click “OK”.

Make sure the project name ends in “_prj”!

Starting ADS – After clicking “OK” you will get the following screen. Press “cancel” and

close the “Schematic” window.

Starting ADS – This will leave the following window.

Starting ADS – Next, under “window” click “new layout” to open Momentum.

Starting ADS – This will open the following windows

For this example we will simulate the following filter:

Substrate: grounded FR4Permittivity = 4.25

Loss Tangent = .003Thickness = 1.76 mm

LayoutFirst define the substrate

Opens the followingwindow

Define the substrateproperties in thiswindow

Layoutdefine the layout layers

Next, define the layout layers

Click “strip” when adding layer up here

Click “OK” when finished

LayoutNow insert a trace

Define a 3.34 mm trace width here.

LayoutClick on screen

once to start here

Press the space bar to

end here.

20 mm long

LayoutIn a similar manner, draw the filter.

LayoutNext, define the source.

Click “OK”

LayoutNext, define the source position.

Define port positionand left click tosnap to conductor.

Do the same for both sides.

LayoutNext, define the source properties.

Define the portproperties here.

Press to start simulation

When the simulation is done the following window will open:

Marker command

Enjoy ADS!
