While most of the literature you read will describe Jackson Hole as a small mountain town, we are certainly not missing out on the local restaurant scene. It may be argued that Jackson Hole has more restau-rant seats per capita than any other town its size in the world - unverified, but argu-able, none the less. Whether you are here for a day or for a month, you can satisfy almost any culinary desire. The best advice usually comes from the tried and true locals’ opinions. We’ve provided you with a few staff secrets - your best bet from those of us that appreciate a good meal...

Jessica Myers “For breakfast, I think Cafe Boheme is one of those little known secrets. Get the breakfast veggie sandwich with fresh tomatillo and pair it with a skinny mocha latte. Have a seat at a table and read the newspaper while you wait. The place is usually filled with locals, so you know you’re at the right spot.”

Candace Woodbury “You have to try D.O.G. at least once. This is one of those hole in the wall, didn’t know it was there, kind of places. You might stand outside for a while, the staff might be ski bums, but that burrito is going to be the best burrito you’ve ever tasted. It is also going to be huge, so you can probably just skip lunch. The menu is easy - meat or veggie, spicy or not.”

Shelby Rogers “For a true Jackson Hole experience, the Silver Dollar Grill is a must-see. Located in the historic Wort Hotel, it has rustic charm for sure. Get the corn chowder, it is a perfect choice when you want a home cooked delicacy. And best of all, if lunch takes you in to the evening, just head into the bar for some great live music.

Candace Woodbury “The Brew Pub is a great place to gather with family and friends. This is the quintissential LOCALS spot. Get a lunch special and splurge on some spin-ach dip while you wait. Every once in a while, the Zonker Stout Cake appears on the menu. Cake made with beer - how can you go wrong? Sit outside on a nice day and have a beer sampler on the deck.”

Jessica Myers “Grab a table at Pizzeria Caldera for the evening. Get there early - this place fills up fast, but for good reason. The pizza is flavorful, the atmosphere is upbeat and the menu is all Napoli-inspired. I like the Piccante Salsiccia. Get it with the roasted beet salad. Sit outside on a nice day or just enjoy a little bit of Italy inside. Buon Appetito.”

Mary MacLeod Bess “Cafe Genevieve is a great spot for dinner. It is just east of the town square in a historic log cabin. The floor creaks when you step inside, giving it a nice rustic atmosphere. Sit outside on a nice day, or cozy up inside and watch the town go by. Order the pig candy and be amazed. Bacon - the universal food.”

Local BarsJackson Hole residents like to support their local bars. The standard attire around here is “mountain casual” so you may find yourself in a fairly mixed crowd with everyone from the posh city slickers to your local non-verbal cowboy type. Either way, the bartenders aim to please and the live music will keep you dancing all night. Just remember - use a taxi service or jump on the START bus when you decide to end your evening. Please drink responsibly.
