This will lower the chances of powder lump formation due to cocoa oil melting at high temperatures, or due to absorption of moisture. Also, dust explosion effect will be reduced since the conditioned space temperature (18oC) will be below cocoa powder ignition temperature. The areas to be covered are: finished goods warehouse, sieving and food drinks packing area and mezzanine. The design will be based on ASHRAE handbook, fundamentals 2009. ABSTRACT An air conditioning system was designed for Cadbury Kenya limited to increase the system productivity by ensuring smooth flow of cocoa powder in the piping and provide conducive working conditions. The system was designed to operate at 18oC and 50% relative humidity. This will lower the chances of powder lump formation due to cocoa oil melting at high temperatures, or due to absorption of moisture. Also, dust explosion effect will be reduced since the conditioned space temperature (18oC) will be below cocoa powder ignition temperature. The areas to be covered are: finished goods warehouse, sieving and food drinks packing area and mezzanine. The design will be based on ASHRAE handbook, fundamentals 2009. An automatic sprinkler system was designed to cover crucial areas in the factory namely; finished goods warehouse, Central stores (raw materials warehouse), Beans store and Cold room. The sprinklers were designed to extinguish, or at least control, fires in the early stages of development. Sprinkler heads were fitted at specific locations throughout the building and these temperature-operated devices will discharge water onto fires in specially designed spray patterns when fire is detected. The systems will be fitted with alarms, visual and audible, which are triggered when there is

a flow of water in the pipe-work. The design was based on the Fire offices committee rules (FOC) which incorporate BS EN 12845.
