Hello,

We do not use state disability through EDD. We have a separate policy for short term and long term disability, with Standard Insurance. The employer pays the premium. We do not pay as we go with unemployment insurance, but have a reimbursement arrangement. We reimburse the State for any unemployment claims during the quarter that are attributed to Morgan Hill employment. We use an internal service fund charge to collect funds in order to pay the quarterly statement.

Hope this helps!

Please help us with these questions if applicable to your organization:

1. Does your City meet the SDI requirements through a payment to EDD? a. Answer: \Ne have only one unit subject to SDI. It was their election to be subject to SDI.

2. If yes, does the employee pay it? a. Answer. SDI is paid by the employee. If the city pays on behalf of the employee, it is considered

additional compensation 3. If no, do you offer LTD or some other benefit in lieu of SDI?

a. Answer: For employees not covered by SDI (misc management) the city's provides a LTD and the premium that the city pays is taxable to the employee. The employees elected to make the premium taxable to them so if they receive benefits, the benefits would be non-taxable. If the employees did not pay taxes on the premium and they receive benefits, the benefits would be taxable. Our police and fire union provide the LTD for their members, not the city.

4. If yes, what other benefit do you provide in lieu of SDI and who pays it? 1
