Some of you may remember years ago, that poems from “our Millie” werefeatured when Viv was the editor (1995-2002).Millie may have passed on, but her memories are in her poems, and an
unpublished one has just been discovered and sent in by her sister Betty.
Just Another DayWe get up in the morning,
A few aches here and there,I think we call it “a little wear and tear”.
Just do a few jobs, then a little rest,Make a cuppa tea,
It goes down the best.The days are putting out a bit
and Spring is on its way.The birds start to sing – soon be
Time for nesting – then we know it’s Spring.The bulbs are coming,
and so the weeds are too,Maybe another day, I’ll go and pull a few.
The little lambs will skip andjump with their mother in the field;
It makes their happy day,Please don’t go shout “mint sauce”
’Cos they will run away.“Our Millie”
