As green shoots of global recovery sprout we’re seeing more than just grassroots growth. By adding value and spreading our passion for the sport we’re proud to bring our range to market. By weeding out jargon and cutting the hype, Fanatic’s organic produce is unique. Our team proudly use only home grown or off-the-shelf shapes for your benefit. By starving others of informa-tion and feeding only our own data rich CAD / CNC shaping system, we’ve won PWA trophies and magazine tests worldwide. So why save the best until last? Now it’s your turn to taste success.

nEw LOOks. nEw COnsTRuCTIOns.

It was hard to keep our stunning new optics under wraps. An online explosion of images sent shockwaves through the web when our sexy polished rail effects and airbrushed effects went public. What’s more, we’ve taken steps to clean up the sport with more eco-friendly clear wood sandwich construc-tions, and with more efficient use of resins and cutting edge cloth we’ve pioneered the TeXtreme® layup with our flagship FreeWave 95.

We’ve created a world of choice for cutting-edge performance riding. 4 styles for all conditions let you pick the sensations you dream of. Choose from FreeWaves for new skool and freeride fun, classic NewWaves for epic single fin feeling, Twin Fins for the pur-est in-the-pocket power, or Quads for extra drive and reaction.

fREEsTyLE

With 4 World Titles, PWA Freestyle World Champion Gollito Estredo leads our unbeat-able team of cutting-edge tricksters. Add their skills to the craft and CAD ability of Se-bastian Wenzel and you’ll see why the Skate is not only a world-beater, but a super fun freeride board too. With standard production

Skates being used in the PWA Tour this year, the only thing between you and a World Title is the 4 times World Champion himself, go for it!

Our benchmark Viper learner line remains the reference in its class. Ask any of our many school’s instructors – there’s simply no better option for rapid learning, progression and funboard excitement. For younger and lighter beginners there’s the smaller Viper 70 or the Ripper kids’ boards for the champs of the future.

The élite Falcon line’s now in its 3rd V-Bot-tom incarnation. With a new 148 for lighter airs the range is complete and identical for everyone from local speed junkie to F63 World Cup performance. Just ask our Fanatic rookie of the year, Pierre Mortefon after his win over 1000 competitors at the 2010 Defi Wind!

We’re still as “Addicted to Ride” as ever. We know you’re hungry for more and nothing gives us greater pleasure than cooking up 5-star servings for you. They say the “proof of the pudding’s in the eating”, so whatever you do this season, make sure you try a Fanatic. Happy sailing and see you on the water!

It’s 7-years since Fanatic’s shaper Sebastian Wenzel began our pioneering CAD / CNC design and manufacturing system. Several seasons precise tuning and tweaking have perfected the process – time our competitors don’t have to catch up.

This workflow’s backed-up by a huge data-base of figures from countless tried and tested rocker lines, rail shapes and outlines. The resource grows daily as we learn daily during intensive periods of rigorous testing. With the stats to back it up with, we can confidently continue to innovate and present proven designs to you.

sebastian wenzel:

“Even before we adopted the CAD system, I’d collected information from each board I’ve made since 1993. Every model ever to leave my shaping room has been archived with notes right down to even what grade of sand-paper I used and why.

But even the best craftsmen can’t compete with the accuracy of a correctly configured CNC machine capable of milling to within a thousandth of a millimetre. It’s been an un-forgettable journey to master this equipment, and even now we’re only just beginning to reap the benefits of the software’s powers.

The advantage of accurately comparing prototypes side-by-side, guarantees progress. You only need to check magazine test results worldwide to realise that the vast amounts of time and money we’ve put into this project has put smiles on the faces of thousands of windsurfers.”

With precision assured nothing can fault the input of our biggest asset – the Fanatic in-

ternational Team. This human element of feel by the most outstanding athletes in the sport is vital, and our strict standard for riders to use only Wenzel-shaped prototypes assures you of the most thorough test process in the industry.

klaas voget (g-4), 4th Overall pwA wave Tour 2009 and fanatic’s R&D manager:

“For us it’s simple. Our promise to deliver the best to you forbids us from letting team members pass their knowledge onto anyone but Fanatic R&D. The advantage of accurately comparing prototypes side-by-side guaran-tees progress. The best part of all is that the world of CAD / CNC's only just beginning.”

Whilst CAD technology ensures perfect shapes for Fanatic, the ma-terials used are still of upmost importance on a windsurfing board. Our long standing partnership with the leading board producer is continually re-inforced by our commitment to exploring new ma-terials and techniques. Whether it is the lightest, strongest or most durable construction, our product engineers are constantly on the search for new innovative materials, The TeXtreme® project is one of many examples of how a high tech material (in this case from the motorsport industry) can be incorporated into a Windsurfing board construction, with huge benefits. The Swedish producer of the TeXtreme® material, Oxeon, explains Textreme® – how it works:TeXtreme® fabric is made using Oxeon’s Tape Weaving technology that uses Spread Tow Tapes instead of yarns. By using Spread Tows the crimp is nearly eliminated, substantially improving the mechani-cal properties of the fabric. A woven material comprising interlacing fibrous Spread Tow Tapes, instead of yarns, also displays a sub-stantially reduced number of interstices / openings. This means that a Spread Tow Fabric presents less accumulation of matrix at the interstices and hence increased fiber volume fraction.Furthermore, in any given area more fibers can be packed in Spread Tow Fabric form than in a yarn fabric enabling reduced laminate thickness. The image on the right best explains the difference bet-ween Spread Tow Fabrics and Regular Tow Fabrics.

TExTREmE® TEChnOLOgy

For 2011 in just one FreeWave size (95L), the TeXtreme® FreeWave has an extremely light layup of pvc, wood and TeXtreme® cloths, to ensure one of the most innovative constructions Fanatic has ever produced. The TeXtreme® material is not only an optical eye-catcher, but also has many technical properties which make it superior to standard Carbon cloths. The main advantage is the flat weave, which is stronger, yet lighter as less resin is needed / absorbed. On the deck we use the high quality full Carbon Kevlar material to offer the most efficient construction in terms of light weight with maximum impact resistance. Combined with the polished base and airbrushed rails, the TeXtreme® FreeWave 95 is the talk of the beach.

released throughout the year on fanatic.com, as the new products are released step by step. Our Fanatic Ocean Minded project is a long term commitment and we are therefore investing into long term use studies, new material developments and partnerships with composite producers, to innovate and lead the way, just as we do with our performance leading products.

Using a lightweight yet robust wood and glass fibre construction gives a very high strength to weight ratio. In combination with the Double PVC / Wood Sandwich, this is an extremely durable lay up, the thick sandwich, wood and glass fibre absorbing high forces, even after the har-dest landings! Used on the standard FreeWave models. On every 2011 board is a small ‘Fanatic Oce-

an Minded’ logo – this is to signify Fanatic’s commitment to protecting the environment and researching more environment friendly materials, in all our products. Every detail of our constructions, packaging, printing and accessories is constantly analysed to try and improve our ‘footprint’ on the environ-ment, not as easy task as composite mate-rials are not the most eco-friendly. However plenty of resins, sandwich foams, eva pads and laminates are already being develo-ped with a more green approach in mind,

BIAx gLAss sAnDwICh LIghT TEChnOLOgy

A specific combination of top quality Biax Glass fabrics in combination with PVC layers on deck and bottom provides optimised durability for the standard Skates. The light finish helps to reach an excellent weight to price ratio.

wOOD sAnDwICh LIghT TEChnOLOgy

A combination of top quality and intelligent layup specifications, Wood Sandwich and Glass / Wood re-inforcements, gives the Wood Sandwich Construction extremely competitive weights at value prices. Used for the standard Hawk and Ray models, now also available in the light finish sanded look for the most efficient weight possible.

High resistance composite technology – an optimum weight and durable construction for every-day use. A thick, durable outer skin gives the board hull a high strength, ding and impact resistance. Strategic use of glass reinforcements ensures an adequate stiffness. Used on the standard Shark, as well as on the Viper / Ripper ranges in combination with a user friendly EVA deck.

BIAx CARBOn AnD CARBOn kEvLAR / BAsALT

Top quality and high-tech specification Biax Carbon has a perfect weight to stiffness ratio as a result of its very fine weave, plus has fantastic dynamic flex. In combination with PVC Sandwich Technology and Glass reinforcements, it provides a perfect stiffness / flex / weight ratio on the Falcon Slalom line. We used the same basic construction for our Freeride Limited Edition boards, except that on the deck we have a full Carbon Kevlar layup which has a better shock ab-sorbing character than pure carbon, for more comfort, whilst offering a very stiff and light performance, which is needed for these high performance Freeride / Freerace boards (Shark LTD / Hawk LTD / Ray LTD). On the bases of the LTD boards we have the new innovative Basalt cloth, a cloth which is not only technically superior to many other standard cloths, but also environment friendlier in both the creation and re-cycling thereof. All of these models are produced with the light finish sanded look, for extra weight savings, whilst the new polished and airbrushed rails and bases are the ultimate optic for 2011!

Fanatic is a leader in testing and further developing these and other materials. Some of our innovations in this field are easier to visualize, like the Pine Wood constructions of our Ray and Hawk lines, or the new Basalt material used on our Li-mited Edition boards. Others are under the ‘skin’ with new resins, less toxic paints and eva pads, intelligent packaging systems and various cloths / sandwiches all contributing in their own way to a ‘greener’ product line. Freestyle gets more twisted by the day. Thanks to Gollito’s, Marcilio’s and Andre Paskowski’s input, the Skates formed a new dimension born of generations of global test winners. A big part of the Skates’ cutting edge success is its total ease of use. For freestyle newbies and champions alike it’s fast-planing and simple to ride. All three sha-pes – 90, 100, and 110 litre sizes – are available in high-end team Edition, boasting super-light performance thanks to Carbon / Kevlar deck and stiff Carbon bottom lay ups. Crazy airbrush effects, polished bases and rails give the world’s trickest board the pimpest look on the scene. The 100 and 110 also come in the proven Biax Glass construction with light finish for the best value of weight and durability.

fanatic shaper sebastian wenzel:

“The Hawks are fully CAD designed, analysed and shaped on the CNC machine. Using the proven, super-fast Hawk rocker line we’ve updated the 110 and 135 with narrower overall profiles, but wider centre points. Their thinner, tucked-under edges also eliminate the chan-ces of catching a rail during either carving or sliding manoeuvres. The domed decks in the tail and footstrap area are awesome for flat-out control.”

Although designed for more advanced riders, the fishtail shape gives both acceleration and wave-catching lift to intermediates. And thanks to our CAD-engineered volume flow and flat deck, you’ll gain stability and glide where other shorter, high-performance boards demand more balance and paddling skill. The 9’6” is available in only our top-end Wood Sandwich Light construction for a stylishly high-tech yet retro look.

fly 10'6" x 31": A board for a lifetime of surfing. Heavier riders or those who want a board for all conditions will fall in love with this timeless thruster shape. Soft rails up front and sharper edges in the tail give the grip and feel of a smaller board with all the grace and glide of the ancient Hawaiians. Thanks to a flatter nose rocker and more pronounced curve in the tail, you gain easy paddling and turning ability for effortlessly catching rides. A flat deck and volume out wide mean there’s balance and stability galore. What greater way to share the joy of riding waves with family, friends and beginners? WQS tours. He regularly shaped for Sunny Garcia and had success with riders such as Kaipo Jaquias and Andy Irons and a long list of past and present competitors. With an exceptional eye for details and high-tech moulding experience he’s the perfect partner for Fanatic’s cutting-edge epoxy standards.

Bamboo veneer models:

6'2" shortboard: All-rounder shape designed for the recreational surfer with competitive spirit. Single-to-double concave bottom with mid-volume rails and performance rocker give reliable and nimble performance. The Bam-boo Veneer construction brings lightness, strength and sensitivity to the board.

6'5" shortboard: Bigger version of dyna-mic 6'2" for heavier riders or lighter surfers wanting a performance board but with great wave catching ability. For the larger guys, the 6'5" Challenger has just the right amount of length, area and volume to make that dream surf session a reality.

6'6" fun-Egg: Fast and floaty thruster fun from slop to fast surf. A board to keep you smiling no matter how crappy the conditions. With ample width and volume, the Fun-Egg’s a weekend warrior’s wave catcher, fits into any type of surf, and loves to keep on truck-ing when the waves ‘aint chucking.

6'8" Evo multi-fin: A classy, carving pintail for any type of waves or rider. The board’s multisystem combo performs as a ‘Thruster’ or ‘Quad’. Ideal either as a step-up board, or for ex- bums now with fulltime jobs! Perfect for learning foot positioning and tackling a spectrum of conditions.

7'4" mini-mal: Made for cruising and devel-oping your style! A stable-platform board designed to make any surf a fruitful one. Wave catching volume with the right curves give a Malibu ride with an edge; a great board for bigger riders wanting the Cadillac feel, or newbies riders hungry for progress.

8'0" Longboard: Drop in anywhere on this truly high performance ‘Desert Island’ shape. A super-versatile design with just enough width for stability yet a bottom curve and outline suited to outer reefs and big waves. The squash tail combined with a vee double concave bottom gives control and smooth rail-to-rail transfers.

9'1" Longboard: From noseriding to full rail carves this board’s got it all. A concave nose section blending into mid section vee and vee double concave tail flow. Good width and volume keep momentum when the surf’s slacking. An essential piece of any surfer's quiver.

Dura-force Epoxy Biaxial Layups:

6'6" shortboard: Easy-to-ride bulletproof round-pin thruster for full-rail fun and games. Plus, if you’re hunting for speed and control, lift and glide in weaker waves, stability or ease of turning – then look no further. A forward concave section transforms into a vee double concave tail with mid rocker bend allowing security and dynamic manoeuvres.

7'6" mini-mal: Smooth and secure thruster for ghosting through sections of slack and steep waves. Generous width lets the bottom focus on ride smoothness and stability in slower surf. The rolled forward and mid sections run to a vee double-concave tail, for catch-free release in chop and response to power applied.

8'6" Longboard:Ultimate glide and speed in any kind of swell.Extra length and a similar mix to the 7'6" lets you take on faster moving swells, with more volume for catching rare sets on smaller days. The added waterline means you get the momentum and swing of a traditional long-board, but extra maneuverability and response. The perfect board for fast learners or those who can’t bear to see waves go to waste!
