Pattern Notes

When making amigurumi, I choose to crochet in the back loop only. I like the look of the ridges left behind by

the unworked front loop and find them very useful for counting rounds and attaching pieces. If you choose to

crochet the traditional way through both loops, be aware that your final product will look slightly different from

mine.

There are a number of rows that need to be crocheted specifically through both loops or the back loop only,

regardless of your crochet style, to achieve the best result. These are noted in the pattern.

Model was made with:

MC – Bernat Super Value, Lush

A – Loops & Threads Impeccable, Kelly Green

B – Loops & Threads Impeccable, Soft Fern

C – Loops & Threads Impeccable, Amethyst

D – Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice, Beige

E – Loops & Threads Impeccable Brights, Sunny

Day

F – Generic acrylic mill end

I enjoy cross stitch and have chosen to cross stitch on the yellow border around the face. If you don’t wish to

cross stitch the border you could create it instead using surface crochet, embroidery. or even felt. Or modify

the head pattern to include the additional colour changes to incorporate the yellow while crocheting the head.

Gauge

Good news! Gauge doesn’t matter much when you’re making amigurumi. So what if your plush is an inch taller

than mine? All that matters is that you can’t see the stuffing through the fabric and that you like the look of the

final piece. I crochet fairly tightly so a 5 mm hook works for me. If that makes too loose a fabric for you, drop a

hook size or two. I’ve seen designers go as low as a 2 mm hook with worsted weight yarn for their amigurumi.

It’s all about what works for you!
