School Uniform

In response to our school uniform survey and in keeping with the DET uniform requirement of providing a unisex option for students a few ‘tweaks’ have been made to our school uniform. Our wonderful models, Alexandra and Mika are wearing the new sky blue polo with the Paddington logo, along with navy blue cullotes for girls and navy blue shorts for boys. Both boys and girls will wear navy blue socks and black school shoes. This uniform will be worn Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The girls will also have the option of wearing the new look summer dress, modelled in the photos by Lili and Piper. The dress in the photo below does not have our school logo on it however, when the dress is available to purchase from us it will have the Paddington emblem embroidered in navy. Friday will remain as it currently is, sports day. The sports red polo will be worn with unisex navy blue lightweight sport shorts. The girl’s navy sport skort and netball skirt will be phased out over the next 12 months. All uniforms will be available for sale from the school in our newly created uniform shop located in the K-2 playground area. Hours of opening are yet to be confirmed. Items will also be available for purchase online using flexischools. This online service will be available early term 4. For families who would like to purchase uniforms ready to wear in term 4, please complete the attached order form. Sizes will be available to try on this Thursday 26 September between 9:15am - 10:00am and 2:30pm - 3:30pm. If you would like to try uniforms on please come to the courtyard or front office. If this time does not suit please contact Ebony or Alison in the office so we can arrange another time. Please remember the change in uniforms will have a phase in period of 12 months. All current uniforms will be able to be worn during 2020.

SEMESTER 1 SCHOOL FEES ARE DUE

The office will be contacting all parents who have not paid school fees. If you have not paid please make payments online through the Parents Online Payment (POP) option on our school website, we also accept payments at the office. The POP screen is accessible by going the school website, payments, make a payment. This message does not apply if you currently have a payment plan in place. If you are experiencing financial hardship and are unable to pay school fees please contact Alison or Mrs Larkin to discuss in confidence.

LUNCHES In Term 4, we will no longer use Farm Fresh Foods, Paddington as one of our lunch providers. This decision was not easy to make, as they have been supplying our student lunch orders for more than ten years. The main reason for this decision is the items that were being provided do not sit in the healthy school canteen policy. However, we will continue to use ‘The Lunchbots’, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Welcomeasy will now supply lunch orders five days per week. Girls Cricket Afternoon

On Thursday the 12th of September, the primary girls were lucky enough to participate in a cricket clinic run by Cricket NSW in the playground. The students played multiple games on different rotations, with each teaching them the basic skills of cricket whilst showing them how fun the game can be. Darcy of 2W said she enjoyed that the students were kept busy in every game for the entire clinic and she had the most fun "...learning how to hit the ball properly with the bat and how to throw a cricket ball." Sign up sheets for the local team were handed out on the day however you can contact Mr Wylie if you require another sheet or more information.

Are You a Telstra Employee or Do You Know One?

Grant Applications Open on Tuesday October 15th! Paddington PS is looking for Telstra employees who would be interested in submitting a Telstra Kids grant application on the school’s behalf. Telstra Kids funds projects to benefit kids across Australia. Successful applications will receive a grant of $1,200 to fund a project that helps kids thrive in a connected world. Telstra Kids applications are a two-part process. When the round opens, all eligible Telstra employees will be able to register their interest online for a $1,200 Telstra Kids grant on behalf of Paddington Public School. Then, through a ‘lottery-style’ allocation process, a random selection of employees that lodged their application by the deadline will be invited to complete the process with the help of the local community group they nominated. For part one of the application process, employees will need to describe the project i.e. how the funding will be used and how this will benefit kids to play and learn. In addition, provide some details about the school. For more details visit https://telstrakidsfund.com Paddington PS would like to receive funding to support our Maker Space to purchase new coding and robotics equipment which will be used by our 280 students to develop digital making and digital programming skills. If you are interested in applying for a Telstra Kids grant please contact Mr Tyacke or Mr Kardasis via the school office on 9361 670 or email [email protected] If you know someone who works at Telstra please pass this information on to them. Regards,

Ben Tyacke Stage 1 Assistant Principal
