KILLARNEY COMMUNITY CENTRE SOCIETY

A Message from the President of Killarney Community Centre Society

Killarney Community Centre Society (KCCS) serves to enhance the Killarney CommunityMission Statement:The Killarney Community Centre Society fosters community spirit and better quality of life by supportingsocial, educational and physical activities for the whole community, with accessibility and fairness for all.

KCCS Governance:The Killarney Board of Directors consists of a group of people elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Society. It establishes policy and governs the organization in the most effective and efficient manner possible. The KCCS Board of Directors makes and reviews policy, delegates action to committees and to staff. The Board has general charge andcontrol of the Community Centre programs, memberships, funds, equipment and assets. It is accountable to themembership of the Society. Membership in the Society is open to the public.

From time to time, KCCS lobbies the various levels of government for improvements that enhance the safety and/or theavailability of facilities or programs for the community. The grants that we receive help us subsidize programs tohelp keep registration costs down.

The relationship that the KCCS Board has with the Vancouver Park Board is set out in a Joint Operating Agreement. This agreement divides responsibility for the activities in the Centre, the Rink, and the Pool.

Revenues and Expenditures:The revenues raised by KCCS either through programs, government grants, Bingo grants, or private donations arereinvested into the Killarney community in a number of ways such as: purchases of equipment, supplies, and in some casescapital expenditures.

For more information on the Society or how to participate with the KCCS, please contact Frieda Trip at (604) 718-8210.

I remain yours sincerely,Terry KirstiukPresident KCCS
