Kororo Public School Dear Parents, Welcome to Week 10, the last week of Term 3 2019. I enjoyed my first day back on Monday. Students and staff were eager to share their experiences and achievements that occurred in my absence. We received 2 nd Prize in the School Garden Section and the Native Garden Section of the Coffs Harbour Council’s Garden Competition. Thank you to Andrew Stirling and Greg Allen for their dedication in keeping our school gardens beautiful, especially with the weather we have had over the year so far. Our students have engaged in extra sport and academic events this term. Congratulations to all students who have had a go! Through studying Science and Technology students explore scientific and technological concepts and gain knowledge and understanding of the world. They develop skills in conducting scientific investigations and designing and producing solutions through learning about the Living World, Material World, Physical World, Earth and Space, and Digital Technologies. Kindergarten have been enjoying science and technology lessons and have made their own helicopters and then tested their model. The Twilight fair is fast approaching, so please keep sending in donations to support our major fund raiser for 2019. Funds raised will be put towards improving our playground for the whole school community to enjoy! Maybe some spring cleaning in the holidays will find some items that could be recycled or reused. Have a fun and safe holiday and we look forward to a great term of learning experiences in Term 4! Leonie Smith Principal Week 10 Term 3 - 25th September 2019

DEPUTY’S REPORT by Mel Fenton

At the P&C meeting this month I discussed the possibility of creating our own official Kororo Public School Facebook page. The community members there all agreed that this form of communication would be a fantastic way to share feel good school stories and continue to build upon the positive school culture that already exists at Kororo Public School. We have started the set up phase and are looking to launch the page in Term 4. Our newsletter will be changing from weekly to fortnightly. In preparation for this, we are sending home letters to families where students have not indicated on their enrolment form if they are happy to have their child’s photograph published on social media. If you receive one of these notes please fill it in and return it to school ASAP. Congratulations to our girl’s basketball team who played so courageously last Friday against Lismore Public School. Even though the girls were defeated on the day their sportsmanship and sporting skills truly showed why they had come so far in the competition. A special thanks to Mrs Martyn for all her hard work with their training and organisation. Wow! We have made it. My first term here at Kororo Public School has been a fantastic one. The students, staff and community have all made me feel so welcome and I feel so blessed to belong to such a wonderful school family. I wish all our families a safe, restful and relaxing holiday.

OCEAN ART! 3CM have entered an 'Ocean Art'

competition that will be on display at Dolphin Marine Conservation Park for the

September school holidays. They have constructed a piece of art made from

marine debris to raise awareness of waste in our local waterways.

Voting will occur via donations, with all proceeds raised to go

towards the purchase of a SeaBin for the Coffs Harbour

Marina.

If you visit the Dolphin Marine Conservation Park these holidays, your support would be greatly appreciated as the winning class receives an exclusive invite to participate in the release of a sea turtle.

Twilight Fair Relaxation Room (1SC Classroom)

I am hoping to set up a massage relaxation space in my classroom for the Twilight Fair. Does anyone in our school community have massage skills and would be prepared to donate a couple of hours to working in our relaxation room? If you know of anyone could you please contact me? Many thanks Sharon Cameron
