PAST DUE PAYMENT POLICY:No new trophy donations or advertising pledges will be accepted by the Labrador Retriever Club, Inc. from individuals with outstanding bills owed to the LRC. Entries will not be accepted from individuals who, after a minimum of one billing per month for three months, continue to owe for outstanding bills. The LRC Show Treasurer will furnish the Show Superintendent of the current National Specialty show with an up-to-date list of these individuals. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Show Superintendent will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks from the same exhibitor may result in their being put on a cash only basis

WinnersPLEASE NOTE: All Puppy Classes, 12 -18 and Open Classes are divided by color, both sexes. Be sure to include class division and color information on entry blank. If color division is not indicated on entry blank, the entry may be rejected.

Please note the minimum age requirement for the veteran class!Winners of the above classes, if otherwise undefeated, are eligible to compete in BEST OF BREED COMPETITION. Following Best of Breed judging, there will be an award for Best Veteran.

Non-regular classes involving Multiple Dog EntriesStud Dog Class: For Stud Dogs and at least two (2) but not more than three (3) of their Get. Stud Dogs must be entered in the Stud Dog Class and must be shown in the ring with their Get. The owner of the Stud Dog need not necessarily be owner of the Get. While the merits of the stud dog are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy, or the Standard for the breed. Get must be entered in a Regular Class, Best of Breed Competition or some other non-Regular Class.Brood Bitch Class: Same rules as for Stud Dog, except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog and Produce for Get.Brace Class: Two Labrador Retrievers that are similar in appearance, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of two handlers. Both dogs competing in brace competition must have at least one common owner. The Dogs comprising a Brace MUST be named at the time of entry. In making entries for “Brace Class Only” full particulars MUST be given for each dog on individual entry forms. An entry form for a dog entered in a Regular Class or for “Best of Breed Competition” and entered as part of a Brace MUST be marked accordingly in the space provided for Additional Classes, “Brace Class.” If more than one Brace is entered by same owner, dogs comprising EACH BRACE must be designated “Brace No. 1,” Brace No. 2,” etc. The entry fee for Brace Competition is $19 per dog as a first or additional entry.Team Class: Same as Brace Class, except for the following change: Substitute Two dogs for Four dogs.NOTE: As the judge’s decision in the Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Brace or Team Class is based on the merits of more than one dog/bitch, no one of the dogs/bitches making up the entry judged first in these classes will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class.

CONFORMATION PUPPY SWEEPSTAKESTo stimulate interest in the showing of promising Labrador Retrievers, the Labrador Retriever Club will hold annual Sweepstakes Classes at its National Specialty Show. Puppy Sweepstakes rules are as follows:1. Labrador Retrievers 6 months and under 18 months are eligible.2. Champions of Record in any country are ineligible.3. Sweepstakes Classes will be judged prior to or after the Regular Puppy Classes as appropriate

for the number of entries, but not concurrently.4. Specific Sweepstakes Classes must be given on entry blanks in space marked “Additional

Classes”. State Sweepstakes Dog or Bitch, proper age and color.5. Entry fee due with regular fee.6. If any dog becomes ineligible after the close of entries, the dog must be withdrawn. Entry fee

will not be refunded.7. Dogs MUST also be entered in a Regular Class.8. Entry (fee is $19) is an additional class only; state so on entry form.

There is no refund of entry fee for bitches in season. There is no refund for DUPLICATE ENTRIES or OVERPAYMENTS. The Superintendent will make every effort to find all duplicate entries, but if entry has been processed, no refund will be made. If, because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open, or to complete the Show NO REFUND will be made.

• ENTRIES WILL BE ACKNOWLEDGED after entries close with entry acknowledgment and judging program to ad-dress on entry. Should Exhibitor NOT receive an acknowledgment within a reasonable time, PLEASE notify the Superintendent at (360) 683-1507 or email [email protected]

• FAX ENTRIES – Fax entries will be accepted up to closing time. Fee is $4.00 per dog per event. If the credit card charge is denied for any reason, an additional service charge of $20.00 will be added. FAX NUMBER: (360) 683-6654. This is for Fax Machine ONLY. Incomplete or illegible Fax entries are not acceptable as a valid entry in a show. Proof of transmission is not proof of receipt of a legible or complete transmission (under AKC Rule Ch. 11, Sec. 4). • RETURNED CHECKS DO NOT CONSTITUTE A VALID ENTRY FEE. The Superintendent will add a $20.00 collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks from the same exhibitor or agent may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY BASIS.

• REFUNDS for cancellations due to judge change or cancellations made prior to entries closing will be mailed to said Exhibitor or Agent AFTER THE SHOW. An administrative fee of $5.00 will be withheld from all refunds for entries cancelled prior to the closing of entries.

• The judging will start promptly. Dogs may arrive anytime prior to their time of judging, and may leave immediately thereafter, unless required for further judging. Dogs must be ready for judging. Neither the club nor its Superin-tendent will be responsible or obligated to furnish any service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class Judging. Judges need not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings.

• NO DOGS WRONGLY ENTERED IN A CLASS may be transferred to another class, except as provided in Ch. 11, Sec. 6 of the AKC rules.

• Only dogs eligible for this show will be admitted into the show area. There is no provision for unentered dogs.• LOSS OR DAMAGE – The Show Committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors,

but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of any accident or misfortune, to either dogs or exhibitors participating in these Shows. The welfare of an Exhibitor’s child is assumed to be the responsibility of the Exhibitor. It is distinctly understood that Exhibitors will exercise control and restraint over their children on the day of the show.

• TROPHIES & PRIZES will be awarded in the ring to the person exhibiting the dog. No awards will be mailed.• ALL RIGHTS TO TELEVISE, VIDEOTAPE, ADVERTISE, PHOTOGRAPH, PROMOTE or otherwise exploit this event are

vested in the Club, or in persons to whom assignments of such rights have been made in writing by the Club. SCRATCH POLICYEntry fees paid for a bitch withdrawn because of coming in season or for any dog or bitch withdrawn because of injury or illness or death, shall be returned in full by the LRC, Inc. Refunds for the above stated scratch will be made only upon written application and submission of an appropriate veterinarian’s certificate to the Test Secretary within two weeks after the close of the test. Other scratches reported in writing to the Test Secretary prior to the drawing will be charged a $10 administrative fee. Scratches reported in writing to the Test Secretary after the draw and before the scheduled start of the test will be assessed a 50% scratch fee. No refunds will be granted after the scheduled start of the test.

Go through New Athens to the east side of town, turn left onto Baldwin Road and follow to Old IL Route 13 (Darmstadt Rd). Turn right onto Old IL Route 13 and follow to park entrance. A Conformation Certificate Evaluation is also being offered on Saturday on the grounds. This is a large undertaking and, in an effort to provide the very best experience for you and your dogs, we are asking for your help.

Volunteer bird throwers, poppers, blind planters, hospitality, stewards or marshal assistance would be greatly appreciated. You will be provided with lunch at no cost.

PRIORITY: For each test priority will be given to dogs without a title at that level.When the advertised limit has been drawn for the test, all remaining entries shall be assigned a position on an Alternate list in the order in which they were drawn. Alternates who are present at the test site at the time of drawing for tracks will be used to replace absent dogs. Alternates not used will receive full refund of entry fees. LRC, Inc. will also refund entry fees to any confirmed entry that does not participate in this test provided the Test Secretary is notified one week prior to the date of the test and provided an alternate entry participates in the test. Per AKC regulations, if the TD or TDX test does not fill its entry limits, space may be opened in the other test for additional dogs to compete. Entrants will be notified of such changes

DRAWAll dogs entered in the Tracking Test must be at the appropriate tracking test site on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, by 8:00 am, for the TD draw, 10:00 am for the TDX draw and 1 pm for the VST draw. Judging for each test will start promptly after the drawing of tracks, once the tracks have been appropriately aged.

RULES AND REGULATIONS1. LRC, Inc. will exercise all reasonable care for the safety of dogs competing, but will not

be responsible for the loss or damage or injury to any dog or handler or property. 2. The owner or agent entering a dog in a Tracking Test does so at his own risk.3. Dogs must be kept on leash at all times.4. Bitches in season may compete, subject to provisions in Chapter 2, Section 8, of the AKC

tracking Regulations.5. Only dogs that are competing in this test will be allowed on the grounds.6. There will be a designated area for spectators.7. The Tracking Test committee will have complete charge of these Tracking Tests.

CONFORMATION CERTIFICATE EVALUATIONA Conformation Certificate will be awarded to any Labrador Retriever over (1) one year of age that passes a conformation examination sanctioned by the LRC, Inc. and officiated at by an approved American Kennel Club conformation judge or provisional for the breed. Labrador Retriever specialty sweepstakes judges, and sporting group judges for American Kennel Club events are also eligible to officiate.

To receive a Conformation Certificate, a dog is required to attain a score of 18 or better. To pass in each category a dog must demonstrate, in the mind of the judge, a 65% likelihood of conforming to the characteristic as described by the Standard.

Dogs must be 1 year of age or older on the day of evaluation.Spayed and neutered dogs can be evaluated.

HEIGHT CARDS: All dogs competing in Agility will be required to present an official AKC Jump Height Card prior to running in an Agility Trial. PRIZES AND AWARDS: Rosettes to all qualifiers. Rosettes for First through Fourth in all jump heights in all classes. Dogs must qualify to receive placement ribbons. An Agility Title Patch will be awarded to all entrants completing a title at these shows. A commemorative rosette will be awarded to anyone completing a MACH at these trials.

Top 25 Agility Labrador Retrievers CompetitionWednesday, October 11, 2006

(Immediately following regular Agility Classes.)This will be a fast paced event designed to showcase Labrador Retrievers ranked in the Top 25 in agility competition by AKC. Dogs will jump at their standard AKC jump height in a one round event using modified International Rules. Participation will be by invitation only. The qualifying period is July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006. Invitation forms will be mailed on or about August 1. All participants will receive a commemorative participation rosette.

NOTICE TO EXHIBITORSThe safety of the dogs is our primary concern. By entering these trials, exhibitors acknowledge

that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport and that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all obstacles safely.

Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused, or barred from competition by action of the Trial Committee.

Entry fees will not be refunded if the trials cannot be opened or completed by reason of riots, civil disturbance, fire, an act of God, public emergency, an act of a public enemy, or any other cause beyond the control of the organizing committee.

All dogs must be on leash or crated at all times except when in the ring or when in the designated agility warm-up area.

Exhibitors are responsible for being at the ring gate when it is their turn to run. The judge need not wait for any dog holding up a class. The Labrador Retriever Club, Inc. has no obligation or responsibility for providing service through a public address system or steward for the purpose of calling or locating dogs that are not brought to the ring when required.

Entries must be made on Official AKC Entry Forms or copies and must include the signed Agreement and Rules. Junior Handlers must complete the back of the entry form. Please include only AKC titles on your entries.

Duplicate entries will be considered invalid and all entries for dogs submitted with duplicate entries will be returned.

Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee.Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may have made such

errors. No entry will be refunded in the event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date. Errors in entries made by the exhibitor cannot be corrected after the closing date.

Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians’ recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations.

EDUCATIONAL SEMINARInformation abounds! Performance statistics, breeding theories, conformation data and health issues are just a few of the subjects in which the facts can be simply overwhelming. The problem becomes not how to find information but what to do with it and how to use it. Mr. Eddie Dzuik, Chief Executive Officer of the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, will present “The Use of Vertical Pedigrees in Genetic Management”. The presentation will be made at the Thursday evening banquet with no additional fees for banquet participants.

BREEDERS’ SEMINARThe main purpose of the National Specialty is to serve as a coming together of Labrador enthusiasts of all varying persuations. Basically, an exchange of ideas and a sharing of problems and solutions. Wednesday evening, at 7 p.m., in the banquet room of the host hotel, a gathering is scheduled for all interested parties. Subjects to be approached include - Finding the Labrador in the Retriever and appreciating the Retriever in the Labrador - What does the Standard mean to the performance person? - How to evaluate Form Follows Function from puppyhood to puberty. - and whatever else.....A nominal fee of $5.00 will be donated to the LRC Genetics Research Fund. Please check order form.
