Larkfleet in the communityThe Larkfleet Group is a leading local employer with strong roots in the

communities where it operates

...better, because we care.

Our corporate ‘mission’ is to produce high quality sustainable developments using innovative technology and construction methods, delivered to exceed our customers’ expectations.

The Larkfleet GroupLarkfleet Group is a privately-owned house building and development organisation with a strong record in creating high quality homes and communities.

We specialise in building high-quality, energy-efficient housing for sale on the open market and in the social housing sector. We continually invest in developing innovative sustainable building designs, materials and construction methods.

Our activities also include the development of large photovoltaic (PV) ‘solar farms’, adding PV panels to new and existing buildings at a variety of scales, and refurbishing existing homes to reduce their carbon footprint, energy use and energy costs.

Most of our group companies are based in Bourne and Market Deeping in Lincolnshire, our construction and related activities are concentrated in Lincolnshire, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, Rutland and Nottinghamshire – although we are involved in projects throughout mainland Britain, from Cornwall to Scotland.

Local employmentWe support several hundred local jobs through our direct employment of local people and our use of local consultants, contractors and sub-contractors.

Wherever possible we purchase from local firms everything from the architectural design which starts the house building process through to the decorating which completes it.

We do the same with ‘corporate’ purchases ranging from catering through to the writing and design of this brochure!

Across all of our group companies we aim to develop long-term and mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.

We continually invest in the training and development of our own staff and, even in the depths of the recent recession, continued to support an apprentice training programme for local young people.

We have recently started graduate recruitment and training to help develop our next generation of corporate management.

We provide ‘work experience’ for a range of young people ranging from school children who are

planning their careers though to unemployed teenagers who need

support in finding work.

BusinessWe are active members and supporters of business organisations across our area of operation.

We play a role in everything from chambers of commerce to the regional arm of the Confederation of British Industry. We want to help build and sustain a vibrant and thriving local economy.

We sponsor a number of local and regional business awards.

We are one of three employer sponsors of the new University Technical College in Peterborough.

Support for local schoolsWe have worked with schools throughout our area of operation in a variety of ways from providing speakers and advisers for careers events through to making straight cash gifts to help purchase specific items of equipment.

We have developed a particularly close relationship with Bourne Abbey Church of England Primary Academy, the school closest to our head office in Bourne. One of our directors has joined the board of governors and over the past couple of years we have:

Provided high visibility vests to make the children’s walk to and from school safer.

Taught the children about the dangers of playing on building sites.

Donated 700 sports water bottles, each printed with a ‘sport themed’ logo based on a design created by one of the pupils.

Given prizes and assistance to help run competitions and other activities that have helped the children raise money for the school’s charitable support of a school in an impoverished area of Kenya.

We also ran a competition at the school for the pupils to name our nearby housing development. The winners came up with the name ‘Abbeyfields’ and we adopted that for all our sales and marketing activity for the site.
