Large TargetsDual-visible lasers and largehigh-resolution targets enablethe system to monitor the exactmovement of each shaft for aspan of up to 100 feet (30.48m).With these features, long jack-shafts are quick work while roughalignment and problems causedby large thermal growth arevirtually eliminated.

Easy User InterfaceA step-by-step graphical userinterface guides the user easilythrough the entire alignmentprocess.

Accurate ResultsThe CSI 8225 Laser Alignmentsystem uses a high-speed anglesensor in each head for a fastershaft rotation with highlyaccurate results. Excellent dataresolution is created by taking ameasurement point every 2degrees of rotation, regardless ofsweep angle. Measurements areautomatically recorded by thelaser heads and can be retrievedusing RF communication orcables. With Emerson’s patentedSweep mode, there is no need tostart or stop the shaft at specifiedlocations.

FlexibleThe Dual-Pass mode makes easywork of alignment on uncoupledor non-rotational equipment. The Averaging mode is designedfor use in high vibration areasand for those machines whererotation is difficult to control. The automatic Sweep modesinclude Anti-Backlash Processingto eliminate errors introduced byinconsistent shaft rotation. These data acquisition modescombined with a completeoffering of mounting brackets andalignment accessories allowsEmerson's alignment system tomeet most alignment needs.

Emerson's uniquely-designed laser heads and extensive accessory offerings create an alignment solution that isapplicable to a wide variety of alignment jobs.

CSI Alignment AccessoriesEmerson offers a wide range oflaser alignment accessoriesincluding special mountingbrackets, shims and adjustmenttools. Chain extensions, baseextensions, and alternativemounting brackets make itpossible to use the laser fixturesfor almost any machine oralignment job. For instance, magnetic bases make assemblyeasy, while soft mount bracketsallow you to perform measurementson non-rotating shafts. Thehorizontal alignment tools providea solution to another importantstep in the alignment process —the machine move. They act likeportable “jackbolts” that enableyou to perform controlled machinemoves without the expenseinvolved with welding additionalcomponents to the machine. The product line is rounded outby a complete selection of pre-cutshims and training tools for yourin-house training program.

Standard BracketsMounting the fixture device andlaser heads to the shaft is key toobtaining accurate measurements. The easy-to-install chain mountingsystem is expandable to securelymount the laser heads to shafts upto 26" in diameter.

CSI 8225 Alignment:Modes of Operation: Auto Sweep is the defaultalignment method used formost applications. The arc ofrotation can vary from 45o

(1/8 sweep) to a full 360o

sweep. This mode is usefulwhen shaft obstructions/clearances make a completeshaft rotation difficult. TheAlignment program takes upto 180 readings during a sweepproviding extremely accuratedata for the alignment.

Manual Sweep is analignment method used wheredata is acquired each time the"number key" is pressed inorder for the unit to recorddata points. This method isuseful for performinguncoupled or non-rotationalalignments. This methodcombined with an increasednumber of data samples ishelpful in situations wherea lot of background vibrationis present.

Dual-Pass functions are similarto the Auto Sweep mode, except data is automaticallyacquired as each laser headpasses by the other. Thismethod, like Manual Sweep, isuseful for performing uncoupledor non-rotational alignments.

 4-Point Auto/4-Point Manualis used when data is acquiredwhere the laser heads are atthe 12 o'clock (0o or 360o) , 3o'clock (90o), 6 o'clock (180o)and 9 o'clock (270o) positions

Straightness is used to collectelevation readings for a lineprofile analysis to determineshaft straightness.

Thermal Growth allows youto enter in the thermal growthdata for the alignment job. Thisinformation comes from either athermal profile or manufacturerspecifications.

Vertical Align is used for C-face/C-flange mounted motors(which are usually oriented inthe vertical direction). Theyinclude one machinecomponent mounted onanother and bolted togetherat a flange. Measurementsare taken with the lasersystem setup across thecoupling to determine theoffset and angle betweenthe two shafts.

Soft Mounting BracketThe Soft Mount Bracket(A800052) was developed formachines with rotors that arelarge, heavy or difficult to turn, such as cement kilns, rockcrushers, gearboxes, and hammermills. It has four permanentbearings at the base of thebracket so that the bracketactually rolls around the shaft.Nylon nuts are included in thepackage and can be added to thechain to allow it to easily slideover the shaft while providing astable mounting configuration.

Quick Mount Narrow BracketThe 1/2” (12mm) Quick NarrowBracket (A8AA55) is a chain-typebracket for optimal stability intight spaces on a wide range ofshaft sizes. It is more suitablethan a standard magnet-mountedbracket for this narrow spaceapplication.

Extension ChainsThe standard mounting bracketcomes with an 8" (200mm)linkable chain, but this bracketcan be mounted on shafts up to26" (660mm) in diameter whenextension chains (D22773)are used. The soft mount bracket(A800052) can also be mountedon shafts up to 26" in diameterwhen extension chains (A832001)are used.

Magnetic Mounting BaseThe Magnetic Mounting Base(A8AA50) is ideal for straightnessmeasurements. When the magnetis switched on, it can be mountedonto any curved or flat ferrousmetal surface, such as rollsand machine bases, and moved-forward or backward along thesurface. When the magnet isswitched off, the base providesenough support that the laserheads can be used on nonferrousmaterials.

Magnetic BracketThe Magnetic Bracket (A800056)mounts to the face of the couplingwith seven powerful magnets. The bracket lip overhangs thecoupling rim to provide extrastability. The magnetic bracketprovides the convenience ofquick mounting.

If questionsarise during the balance job, detailed online help messagesare available at the touch ofa button. Your job is alsosimplified by the ability toautomatically read datafrom up to four sensors -eliminating the necessity ofswitching cables and sensorsbetween each measurement.

Intuitive and AccurateThe intuitive balancing interfaceprovides easy-to-use yet powerfultools to meet the needs of fieldbalancing. Job definition andweight placement is clarifiedby graphical displays. Vectoraveraging ensures data qualityby suppressing inaccuraciesfrom normal variations inamplitude and phase readings.A data stability bar graph cuesyou when a measurementis ready to be recorded.

AMS Machinery ManagerInterfaceBalance results are automaticallycompared to original conditionand tolerance specification fordisplay and reporting. Oncethe job is complete, data canbe loaded to AMS MachineryManager for analysisdocumentation, reporting andfuture use. If it is necessary torevisit the same machine, datacan be downloaded to providean opportunity for a one-shotrebalance.

The CSI 2130 Machinery Analyzer features an easy-to-use graphical balancinguser interface.

Basic and Advanced OperationBasic mode provides a quicksolution for one and two planebalancing jobs. Advanced modehandles jobs with more variablesand will also automatically splitcorrection weights betweenavailable weight locations.Advanced features enableless experienced users to dealwith most any situation. Thepatented Balancing Watchdogis a revolutionary feature thatchecks the vibration data on themachine during the balance job.It identifies secondary faults andeven compares vibration acrossthe shaft to identify loosenessor resonance in the structure. The Balancing Watchdog thenreports the nature and locationof problems that might preventsuccessful balancing so thatthey can be corrected and thebalancing job can proceed.
