What is a Direct Object? A DO is the receiver of the action. He bounced the ball on the court.
How do you find the Direct Object?
You use: Subject + Verb +WHAT?Example: I eat an apple. I eat WHAT?The answer is the DO “an apple”
What are the Direct Object Pronouns?
Subject Pronouns DOPsYo METú TEÉl LOElla LAUsted LO / LANosotros NOSEllos LOSEllas LASUstedes LOS / LAS
Three things to remember about DOPs:
1. They REPLACE the Direct Obj Pronoun2. They must AGREE in gender and
number with the noun they replace.3. They come BEFORE the conjugated verb.
Example: Yo como una manzana todos los días.To find the Direct Object noun, ask
SUBJECT + VERB + WHAT? I eat WHAT?The answer is the DO La manzana
CIRCLE the DO noun:
1. Ellos beben refrescos en la fiesta.2. Nosotros aprendemos el vocabulario.3. ¿Montan ustedes su bicicleta a la escuela?4. Tú necesitas las clases de español para ir a la universidad.
Yo como una manzana todos los días.Replace the DO noun “una manzana” with the corresponding DOP (feminine singular) = LA
Replace the DO noun with the DOP:
1. refrescos ___________________2. el vocabulario ___________________3. su bicicleta ___________________4. las clases de español ___________________
Place the DOP in FRONT on the conjugated verb. Yo LA como todos los días. I eat IT every day.
Replace the DO noun with the DOP and place it in front of the conjugated verb. Then translate: 1. Ellos beben refrescos en la fiesta.
