Heartsaver CPR & First Aid Oct 4, or Dec 6 (M) 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., $70 or Nov 1 (M) 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., $70 Heartsaver First Aid class is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs the course completion card to meet employment, regulatory, or other requirements. This includes daycare workers/owners, OSHA-compliant factory employees, government office workers, teachers, etc. The general public is also welcome. Upon completion, participants receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid Course Completion Card which is valid for two years.

Travel AdventuresOct 7 (TH) 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., $15 Must be a Gold Club member to register for this class Have you ever wanted to travel to or learn more about London, Paris, Rome, and exotic places such as Dubai, China,

and Africa? Come to this session and journey with Pat Randolph as she shares with you her travel adventures from more than 50 countries. From walking with the lions in Africa to dune bashing in Dubai to climbing on the Great Wall of China, she will tell you her exciting experiences. Come to this session and travel with her to these faraway places.

Introduction to Ceramic Wheel Throwing and Hand Building Oct 9, or Oct 23, or Nov 6, or Nov 20 (SA) 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., $23 Ages: 10 and up Der Topfer, 1211 3rd Ave., Scottsbluff Have you always wanted to try your hand on a pottery wheel? Here’s your chance! This is an introductory class offering students the opportunity to throw on a pottery wheel and learn hand-building clay techniques. A brief introduction of ceramics and ceramic tools, description, and use will be included. Projects will not be completed in the three-hour class, but students can continue in ceramics classes or set up private lessons with the instructor. All materials provided. Class size is limited to six.

Intermediate Sign Language Oct 13 – Nov 10 (W) 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., $30This course utilizes a practical approach to teaching intermediate American Sign Language. This class is a continuation of the Beginning Sign Language class. Students are encouraged to have taken Beginning Sign Language or have knowledge of basic signs. This course not only deals with more vocabulary, but also includes the use of non-manual markers, facial expression, classifiers, and the grammatical structure of American Sign Language. We also work on receptive sign skills and continue with the fluency of fingerspelling. This is an interactive course for those who consider their sign skills as intermediate.

QuickBooks™ Basics Oct 13 – 27 (W) 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., $70 Are you new to QuickBooks™? Would you like to learn how to set up QuickBooks to make it more effective for you or your business? Please join us for a full-day class that focuses on the basics of setting up your QuickBooks software. This is a basic class for the desktop version of QuickBooks. Facebook for SeniorsOct 21 (TH) 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., $15 Must be a Gold Club member to register for this class If you’ve ever sat down at your computer, iPad, or tablet and wished you knew more about how to better navigate the Facebook world, this class is for you! This class is designed with the most beginning Face-booker in mind. Throughout this two-hour session you will be able to understand everything you’ll need to know about the basics of Facebook, and will leave with a more confident understanding of your own personal Facebook account.

Safe Babysitting Clinic (12 Hours)Oct 22 (F) 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.Oct 23 (SA) 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., $55 (includes lunch on Friday only)Ages 10 – 15Earn a certificate from our Safe Babysitting Clinic. WNCC faculty teach the American Heart Association Family and Friends CPR for adult, child, and infant; basic first aid; choking rescue techniques; and use of an AED. The instructor for this course is Janelle Anderson. In this class, she will provide 16 hours of babysitting instruction on safety, food preparation, safe play, and

age-appropriate activities. Learn about accepting babysitting jobs, negotiating pay, and exploring an early childhood education career.

Bob Ross Painting Oct 23, or Nov 13, or Dec 18 (SA) 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., $75 Bob Ross believed that everyone who wanted to paint, could paint like a natural with the right tools and a little encouragement. Come and experience the joy and confidence of painting a beautiful landscape using the Ross wet-on-wet technique. Please bring a roll of paper towels to this class.

Therapeutic Chair YogaOct 28 (TH) 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., $15 Must be a Gold Club member to register for this class By connecting the mind/body/spirit, this gentle therapeutic chair yoga class

introduces the theory and practice of yoga and ample time to practice basic asanas (body postures) and pranayama (breath). This is a mat-free class that is perfect for seniors and people with mobility challenges. Among its potential benefits, chair yoga can increase circulation, alleviate joint pain from arthritis, promote a healthy mindset, reduce high blood pressure levels, alleviate stress, promote relaxation, and reduce feelings of tension or discomfort. Chairs are available for seated and standing support. Therapeutic Chair Yoga is appropriate for all fitness levels, but participants should consult their doctor if they have any medical concerns that may affect their ability to perform chair yoga.

Mind Body Medicine: Learning Skills for Self-Care Nov 3, 10, 17, Dec 1, 8, 15 (W) 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., $36 During this class, we will learn ways in which to care for yourself. Using art, journaling, self-affirmations, and mindful breathing techniques we will experience greater wholeness, resiliency and health. Research based exercises, in small groups promise to help with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Group sharing in a safe way will be encouraged, not required. Come join us for 6 weeks of fun and learning! Patrick Powers is a licensed professional therapist who has a background in psychotherapy, University Instructor (addictions and mental health) and Ministry.

first half of class “Keeping the Keys” you will; learn the three main changes to our bodies as we age that affects our driving abilities, learn how drivers can take action to extend their safe driving careers, and find out how drivers can plan ahead for continued mobility. The second half of class “Crash Dynamics” you will learn; the three collisions in every crash, the five types of crashes, what happens to unrestrained occupants during these five types of crashes, and the many ways restraints prevent or minimize injury.

Ways to Live a Longer and Happier Life Nov 11 (TH) 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., $15 Must be a Gold Club member to register for this classWe all want to live a longer and have a happier life, but exactly how do you do this? Happiness and healthy living are a choice. Learn how to develop a better attitude, relieve your stress, eat healthier, sleep better, and include exercise and stretching in your life.

Electrical Codes Update 12-Hour Course (Nebraska License) Nov 12 (F) 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Nov 13 (S) 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., $100 This 12-hour course will cover electrical updates and will provide 12 hours of continuing education per state

requirements. The course will be taught in conjunction with the 16-hour course by Alan Strauch. There will be a one-hour break for lunch. (Electrical codes updates will also be offered in March and October 2022).

Electrical Codes Update 16-Hour Course (Wyoming License) Nov 12 (F) 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Nov 13 (S) 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., $110 This 16-hour course will cover electrical updates and will provide 16 hours of continuing education per state requirements. The course will be taught in conjunction with the 12-hour course by Alan Strauch. There will be a one-hour break for lunch. (Electrical codes updates will also be offered in March and October 2022).

DIY Your HolidaysNov 18 (TH) 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., $15 Must be a Gold Club member to register for this class How would you like to make your holidays a bit more personal this year? DIY Your Holidays will help you do this! During this Senior Connections session, participants will make treat holders, card holders, and other decorations to make the holidays extra special this year.

Self Defense Stratagems for SeniorsDec 9 (TH) 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. ($15) Must be a Gold Club member to register for this class Learn practical self-defense and safety strategies based on crime research and data. You’ll also come to understand the threats you are most likely to encounter and how to minimize or counter them. Make a personalized safety plan and learn some basic hands-on escape and evade techniques.

Basic Life Support/CPR for Healthcare Professionals Dec 13, (M) 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., $70 This course covers adult, child, infant CPR, AED training for in-hospital and out-of-hospital situations for healthcare providers, professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills. Participants learn to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Participants earn their two-year American Heart Association completion card.

CSI Adult Presentation Jan 12 (W) 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., $20 Ages: 18 and over Online Class DO YOU enjoy watching CSI programs/mysteries? Then this class is for you. Learn ‘behind the scenes’ facts of several crimes such as homicides, robberies, staged crime scenes, and more. Fingerprint mutilations, that were intentionally performed, will also be shown. Latent fingerprints are the main forensic evidence discussed but other forensic disciplines will be covered in general. Hands on exercises as well as looking at actual photographs

of a homicide and determining what you ‘see’ to analyze the facts. This 3-hour presentation will contain some photos and information that might be considered graphic/offensive. You will need a 4-inch piece of clear tape (like scotch tape) and a 4 or 5 inch by 4-inch piece of clear plastic (preferably from a sheet protector)

Driver Education Instructors Wanted!Course Content: • 36 Hours of classroom/online lecture • 24 Hours behind the wheel training Prerequisites: • Must be at least 21 years of age • Have a high school diploma or equivalent • Valid operator’s license held in state of

residence for two consecutive years • Clean driving record

• For the prior five years, the instructor candidate must have no violation on record for which five or more points might be assessed. This includes probation or other situations in which no points were actually assessed for the violation.

• You must have no suspensions or revocations on record within the last five years, including no convictions for DWI or any related alcohol or drug offense in connection with motor vehicle use. DMV Title 247.
