Forensics: The First 48
The first forty-eight hours of an investigation are key in determining the answers to the Who? What? When? Where? How? Time is very valuable and so is the
information that will be provided in this session. This hands-on session includes a vir-tual visit to a local morgue and discover the secrets of the underworld. If that’s not
enough, have you ever wondered how long it takes for a body to decom-pose? Or maybe you’ve been interested in body composition and bone
structure. Well, take a peek in our Forensics Anthropology corner. This session will offer these opportunities and so much more.

Military Kids
Want to learn more about video production and editing? Want to create your own TV public service announcements as a 4-H ser-vice-learning project? Do you know any
military kids or are you a military kid your-self? If you answered yes to any of these
questions, this is the Clover College session for you! Have fun creating, writing, direct-ing, videotaping, and starring in your own Public Service Announcement about mili-tary kids. Not a military youth? No prob-lem! Find out more about military life and culture, and the unique challenges military
kids face every day.

Do you love clothing and design? Are you interested in putting your creativity skills to
work? In this session, You’ll gain hands on learning experiences about textiles to
sketch, design, and make an article of clothing.
LYFE: Living Your Financial Experience
Come and take part in Living Your Financial Experience. You will learn fundamentals of sound money management through a computer based simulated financial hands-on activity, including: designing a financial plan, managing in-come and credit, saving to achieve financial goals, and pro-tecting assets.
Myth vs. Reality: There’s No Green Glow
This program will debunk the myths and misconceptions concerning differ-
ent forms of energy generation, and discuss Japan's Fukishima
accident as well as a brief overview of the previous incidents, Chernobyl and
Three Mile Island. Fun and
informational videos will be included in the sessions along with a field trip will be taken to Entergy Riverbend's
visitor center.
Real Life Parliamentary Procedure
Come learn practical parliamentary procedure to en-hance their participation in club meetings of all types. There will be particular emphasis on presiding in meetings with tact and fairness. There will be addi-tional emphasis on learning to be an active partici-pant in organizations by making motions, speaking in debate, taking minutes, counting votes, and con-ducting elections.
Take a Walk on the Wild Side: Renewable Natural Resources 101
Join a “wild” time and explore the world around us! Participants will participate in fun, hands-on activities that discover the worlds of
forestry, wildlife and fisheries. During this session, you will learn about and connect with the School of Renewable Natural Resources at
Louisiana State University.
4-H SIMSOC
SIMSOC is a dynamic leadership and citizenhip simulation game that forces participants to cope
with the daily problems of governing society. You will get the opportunity to create your own com-munity complete with political parties, businesses and society groups as well as grapple with issues like justice, trust, and leadership as they negotiate their way through day-to-day challenges, political
decisions and, natural disasters. In this session, suc-cess or failure is dependent upon the decisions you
make.

If you missed our Kickoff meeting and would like to still participate in our Shooting Sports, you still can. If you would like to do the Shotgun compo-nent of our program, they will meet for practice Saturdays at NOON at Ruston Gun Club. Please contact Brad Martin in advance to signup by calling 251-1095. For Archery, they practice Satur-days at 9:00 a.m. Please contact Jeanie Row-land at 548-9789 in advance to signup.
Twelve Junior 4-H Members (grades 4th-8th that have not passed their 14th birthday on January 1st) will be selected state wide to participate in the Junior Wildlife Tour. The trip is held in early August at the LUMCON (Louisiana Universities Ma-
rine Consortium) facility in Fouchon. You can log on to www.lsuagcenter.com/lincoln to learn more about
LUMCON and how it impacts our state! 4-H record books on Discovering 4-H, wildlife, environment, insects, and aqua-culture may be submitted. If you are interested, please contact MRS. AMANDA or MR. GARY and let them know so they can tell you the rules and what you need to do to be eligible.
Deadline for submission is June 1st!
On Monday, February 20, 2012, the halls of I.A. Lewis were filled with the mouth watering aroma of many wonderful food dishes pre-pared by Lincoln Parish 4-H mem-bers. Lincoln Parish 4-H celebrated foods with its annual 4-H Foods Fes-tival competition. There was great participation and many prizes were awarded. The winners and partici-pants were as follows:

The first place winners of each division in the Lincoln Parish 4-H Foods Festival will go on to com-pete in the Annual Area Commodities Cookery Contest to be held at Bossier Civic Center, Bossier, LA. According to the judges of the 4-H Foods Festi-val, Lincoln Parish will be represented well at the Area Cookery Contest. Congratulations to these winners and Good Luck!
Thank you so much to the following judges for giving their time and their taste buds to judge the com-petition: Johnny Lee, Retired School Teacher; Mary Poe, Account Execu-tive/Public Service Director for The Radio Center; Kay Bradford, Lincoln Parish School Board Grant Writer; Emily Arnold, Programming Director for the Lincoln Parish Library. They were very impressed with all of the entries and volunteered for the same assignment next year.

Food Drive: Can you help? During the holidays every-
one collected canned goods to donate. After the holidays, there are few canned food drives, and people still need our help. Each 4-H club is
being challenged to collect as many boxes of MACARONI & CHEESE as they can. An award will be given out at Achievement Day to the club that does the best job!!!! Dead-line to turn in MAC & CHEESE will be March 11th.
The 10th annual 4-H Legislative Day will be held May 30th at the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge. 4-H delegations from throughout the state will attend. Over 1400 4-H members and volunteer leaders attended last year. The program will begin on the steps of the Capitol at 10:00 a.m. Following the short program, participants will visit with legislators. Lunch is on your own. 4-Hers are encour-aged to bring lunch and picnic on the grounds of the Capitol. This is a trip that you would co-ordinate on your own with your club or you could team up with other clubs from the parish. The par-ish 4-H office can assist you with registration.

SUMMER CAMP
4-H Camp is a lot of fun. Activities include swimming, softball, volleyball, Ping-Pong, arts and crafts, dancing, and a variety of educational activities such: as hunter safe-
ty, archery, canoeing, Dramatic Arts, RECHARGE – Food and Fitness, Victory Garden, SET, Wetland, and Outdoor Adventures. If you are interested in learn-ing how to swim, you can do that too. Camp will be held at Camp Grant Walker June 4-8th, fifteen miles north of Alexandria. 4-H members in grades 4-6th and ages 9-12 will be able to participate. Cost of camp is $200. You must come by the office to register and pay; first come, first serve basis! Towards the date of the camp, all registered campers will get a letter in the mail with information on what time the buses are leav-ing, what to bring to camp, etc. You can log on to www.la4h.org/lincoln to download application and get more information. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR CAMP!!! Registration begins Feb. 27th. Deadline is April 20th.
ROUGHIN’ It CAMP
There will be a Roughin It Camp April 3-5, 2012, held at Kisatchie State Park. You will be sleeping in a tent and learn vari-
ous outdoor activities skills such as archery, canoeing, compass, map reading, fishing, hunt-ing, shooting various kinds of guns, and many other interesting outdoor activities. Cost is $65, which covers the camp and transporta-tion. All 4th—8th graders are invited to at-tend. Get a parent or guardian to come by the 4-H office to fill out the proper forms and get you registered. Deadline for signing up will be March 12th.
ACHIEVEMENT
DAY 4-H Achievement Day will be held on May 2nd. Registration will be from
8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Achievement Day is a fun filled day of competition for your club and you. 4-H clubs and members will be receiving trophies, awards, door prizes, scholarships, and much more. Your club will compete in the song, yell, banner, and club T-shirt contests. Start working now so you can help take home the trophy!!! You must have participat-ed in two parish activities by March 31st to participate in Achievement Day. Get with your club leader to see if you have met the minimum requirements.
