Matthew 28:16-20

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Romans 8:28-30

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

Question:

What is God’s greatest desire for you life?

I would argue that God’s greatest desire for you is that you become more like Jesus

Are you like Jesus?

The church is called to an inward-outward work:

outward - reaching the nations, seeing the lost saved

inward - making disciples

Page 7: Ltcc 3 march 2013

A church vision statement:

To know him,

To be like him,

To make him known

Page 8: Ltcc 3 march 2013

The example of Jesus:

Greater than Solomon

Spending time in God’s presence

Filled with the Holy Spirit

All authority

Healing, delivering, releasing

How are we being conformed into the image of Jesus?

Page 10: Ltcc 3 march 2013

Through the renewal of your thinking

1 Cor 8:1 Knowledge puffs up

Rom 12:1...be transformed by the renewing of your mind

Page 11: Ltcc 3 march 2013

Through Inner transformation becoming outward reality

Rev 1:5...To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood

Page 12: Ltcc 3 march 2013

Through ongoing activity

2 Cor 3:17-18 - Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Through other people

Gal 4:19 -My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you

Prov 27;17 - As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

“Never discard a conviction. If it is important enough for the Spirit of God to have brought it to your mind, it is that thing He is detecting. You were looking for a great thing to give up. God is telling you of some tiny thing. At the back of it, there lies the central citadel of obstinacy: I will not give up my right to myself–the thing God intends you to give up if ever you are going to be a disciple of Jesus.”

Oswald Chambers

Jesus says, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." ...that if you gathered all the authority of all the governments and armies of the world and put them in the scales with the authority of the risen Christ, they would go up in the balance like air. All authority on earth has been given to the risen Christ. All of it! The risen Christ has the right to tell every man, woman, and child on this planet today what they should do and think and feel. He has absolute and total authority over your life and over cities and states and nations. The risen Christ is great—greater than you have ever imagined.

Page 17: Ltcc 3 march 2013

...The risen Christ is your king and has absolute, unlimited authority over your life. If you do not bow and worship him and trust him and obey him, you commit high treason against Christ the King, who is God over all...[The resurrection] is the claim of the risen Christ on every life that breathes. "All authority on earth is mine." Your sex life is his to rule; your business is his to rule; your career is his to rule; your home is his; your children are his; your vacation is his; your body is his; He is God!

O for a thousand tongues to sing

Jesus! the name that charms our fears,That bids our sorrows cease;’Tis music in the sinner’s ears,’Tis life, and health, and peace.

He breaks the power of canceled sin,He sets the prisoner free; His blood can make the foulest clean,His blood availed for me.
