Longest Day event tops goal Thanks to all who helped the M.A. Lightman Bridge Club Longest Day event exceed our goal of $4500! The day-long fund raiser on June 22 for the national Alzheimer’s Association brought in $4782. Thanks to those who donated classes, games, prizes, cakes, and Baklava. Of course we wouldn’t have been successful without those who bid, bought raffle tickets, and brought food for our pot luck!

Mentor and Invite-a-Pro Games Come out to participate in the Mentor and Invite-a-Pro Games which resume in August. Mentor Games are the first Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and the fourth Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. each month. Invite-a-Pro is on the second Monday. Prior to each game, one of the mentors will offer the Bridge Tip of the Eve-ning. And after the game, we would like to know how many of you were able to use that tip during the game. Call Jane Eason at 662-429-1257 to sign up with a mentor/mentee or to be matched up with a new friend. We suggest participants pair up for four games. Any LM is qualified to be a mentor and any non-LM qualifies to be a mentee. The bridge table is not the place for lessons, so please plan to stay after the game to go over the hands with your mentor/mentee and to let us know what you learned.

Hideous Hog Nights on Tuesdays Every Tuesday night is Hideous Hog Night. Rack up the most oinks to prove that you are the Hog, and win $5! August rules: 1. Non-LMs get 4 “oinks” for attending. LMs get 2. 2. Go for 800, 1100, or 1400, and chalk up 2 oinks. 3. Defend a doubled, making contract to win 3 oinks. 4. Win a trick with a deuce for 3 oinks. 5. Win 1 oink for plus 130.
