• There is many steps and procedures for efficient cleaning instructions for the M-16 / M-4 / AR 15 design weapon with the Gas Tube/ Carrier / rotate bolt assembly. These same basic procedures can be used on other related weapons such as Pistols, Rifles, Cannon and Automatic Aircraft Systems.

• Spartamax Gun Oil Products will follow standard procedures set for by OEM Weapon manufacturers and US Department of Defense.

• Spartamax Gun Oil Products is going to ONLY in this presentation is going to use SGO-MP Bio based hi performance product as SGO-MP special design works universal as a Bio Solvent Cleaner, Carbon Management ( within the barrel bore and upon components during weapon operations) Slide & Parts Lubricant and Protection against rust and corrosion both inside and out.

• SGO-MP – Spartamax Gun Oil ( CLP – Clean Lube & Protect ).

• NOTE: Armorers & Gunsmiths would use a combination of the SWC – Spartamax Weapons Lube and the SGO-MP – Spartamax Gun Oil.

• Out in the field etc. if there is ONE ( 1 ) Choice it is SGO-MP this presentation covers those requirements.

• Spartamax’s ability for Chemical engineering design for multiple applications and requirements including: bi-base solvent, effective lubrication with anti-static action for working within the weapon to provide effective “powder” management during use within in the internal barrel (ballistic performance) - and upon the moving and sliding mechanical components.

• During the Weapon Maintenance, Cleaning & Storage Procedures – allow the Spartamax Gun Oil product(s) to soak and clean the carbon naturally from the metal surfaces. Reducing the need for metal brushing – allowing increased use of cloth, swabs & soft cleaning

• Additional Videos, Instructions, Technical Data & MSDS available at: www.sgomp.com or www.spartamax.net

Weapon Performance-Repeatability

1. Separate-SAFE ( Disassembly )

2. Soak (Spray / Soak Parts with SGO-MP to allow

product time for Bio Solvent Chemistry to gently break

carbon away from surfaces)

3. Swab –Wipe ( Learn to partner with the

bio chemistry – except for a few bolt - dry areas –

metal brushed will not be required – use of Swabs,

Cleaning Cloth, Patches, Q-Tips, Soft “tooth” Brushes.

4. Spray SGO-MP ( learn to lightly spray SGO

Gun Oil Product on components be fore reassembly.

During storage will not “varnish” but actually micro clean

the surface pores of carbon etc. During weapon

performance – more carbon will blow out muzzle and

manage carbon upon internal parts.

SGO Spray / Soak Instructions:

1. BARREL: SGO Hold against barrel ends a) fire chamber area by

lugs towards barrel center and b) muzzle end towards barrel

center. Full Spray 2X into each end of Barrel move barrel up and

down etc to allow SGO to coat inside barrel – allow to soak longest

while you work on the other weapon components

SPRAY PARTS - ALLOW TIME (5 MIN)

TO SOAK AND SATURATE

SGO BIO-SOLVENT INTO METAL SURFACE.

2. INSIDE UPPER – FIRE CHAMBER, HOT GAS TUBE AREA,

CHARGE HANDLE SILDE AREA: Spray and coat these areas with

SGO Bio-Weapon Cleaner – allow to soak while you work on the

other weapon components.

Clean Cloth light scrub & cleaning of trigger group, outside &

inside trigger group.

THOROUGH CLEANING

NOTE: allow other components to soak.

EFFECTIVE BUFFER TUBE CLEANING: Buffer Tube area is very important and many times

gets ignored – but quickly and effectively can be cleaned. First spray SGO cleaner ( 2X ) into

the buffer tube cylinder area, use a rag which is long enough not to get stuck in the bottom of

the tune – with using a shaft/rod inside of long rag – pressing the rag against the surface turn

and rotate the rag/shaft 4Xs inside the cylinder with the SGO to quickly clear and remove.

( Below – M-4 Carbine style “butt-stock” )

Page 15: Maintenance - Cleaning Instructions M-16A, AR-15 and M · PDF fileMaintenance - Cleaning Instructions M-16A, AR-15 and M-4 Carbine including other Weapon Systems Using Only SpartaMax

EFFECTIVE BUFFER – ACTION SPRING CLEANING : Spray and coat spring area and rag RAG corner end area with SGO – Use your SGO soaked rag – grip or pinch spring with pressure using your two fingers while turning spring “walking up” & “walking down” action spring – you will see the SGO clean the contamination. When finished – wipe down buffer & Re- assemble buffer spring and buffer.

Light Spray / Coat SGO lube upon BUFFER TUBE CYLINDER AREA, ACTION SPRING & BUFFER. To provide a light coat upon components - then reassemble.

This will improve the buffer/spring / carrier group slide performance while defending against carbon build-up etc.

SGO Spray / Lube Instructions:

BARREL BORE CLEANING. (if not previous sprayed with SGO to soak inside surfaces - SGO Spray and coat again ).

1. When you allow SGO to soak within the barrel bore ( spray both ends 2X spray) – the special Bio-Solvent Chemistry chemistry will soak into the deep rifle surfaces and lightly dissipate & break away the larger carbon particles WIRE BRUSH IS NOT NEEDED.

2. SOAK PATCH OR SWAB WITH SGO CLEANER - LUBE

3. PULL BACK AND FORTH 4Xs = to 8X bore strokes – you will feel with each pull the SGO soaking more and more into the barrel bore with less rifling twisting of the rod. THE PATCH WILL GET DARKER WITH CARBON CONTAMINATION.

4. Replace rod with CLEAN PATCH

5. AGAIN SLOWLY BACK AND FORTH 2xS WITH CLEAN PATCH

6. SECOND TIME REPLACE CLEAN PATCH 2Xs you will notice the clean patch will “pull” the carbon continue until YOU HEAR THE PATCH “squeaky clean”

SGO Lubrication Instructions:

UPPER RECIEVER & BARREL.

1. SPRAY SGO INTO BARREL BOTH ENDS 1Xs

2. SPRAY SGO ONTO PATCH & PULL THROUGH BARREL 1X each way

as this guarantees a light coat upon entire barrel bore surface & into

rifling – preventing over lubrication or increase bore compression.

3. SPRAY SGO lightly ( 2X’s) upon FIRE CHAMBER, LUGS and inside

UPPER RECEIVER AREA WHERE CHARGING HANDLE AND CARRIER

ASSEMBLY GROUP SLIDES

4. NOTE: during operation a) BARREL:SGO will provide hi temperature
