    Executive Summary

    This Assignment describes the effective management and leadership skills required for therecognition of a future development, performance of the job role and other requirements for

    the future development.

    The curriculum vitae shows all the professional qualifications and could be explained or

    understood through the SWOT analysis. Plans in order to be successfully carried out, it needs

    a personal plan and so the personal plan has been discussed in detail.

    Personal Vision, Mission and Values will also help to achieve the personal plan which is also

    stated. Personal plan can be driven further and those have also been analyzed.

    Currently the personal plan such as short term and long term objectives has also been stated

    in this document. The action thats been taken in order to achieve these objectives also has

    been stated.

    Finally, the report identifies the learning methods which can improve the personal and

    professional skills in future.

    Introduction about My Self

    My name is Nayomi Anushka Ekanayake. I live in Narahenpita, Sri Lanka. Im 18 years old.

    I was born in 20-01-1994, my marital status is single and my nationality is Sri Lankan -

    Christian.

    From grade 1-13 I was schooling in Ladies College - Colombo 07. Did my GCE A/L

    Examination and GCE O/L Examination at Ladies College too. Before I left Ladies College I

    was appointed as a member of the choir in 2009 and was also appointed as a member of the

    orchestra in 2010. I was appointed as the deputy of the class in 2011. During my school

    career I took part in some of the extra-curricular activities and social services.

    During my GCE A/L Examination I did a Diploma in Business and Entrepreneurship at

    Carlton institute and now Im currently undergoing the higher national diploma in business

    management at ICBT City Campus. After completing my HND I will do my final year degree

    at ICBT and I wish to complete my masters as well. Then I would like to start up my own

    business after 10 years.

    1. Personal Development Plan1.1 Who am I?

    I am a very friendly person who likes to work in a team environment. I also like to help

    others, be socialized and also to share my experience with others as well as to gain

    experience of others. I generally focus on time management, creativity, efficiency and

    effectiveness of my day to day work.

    In the next sections I have clearly mentioned my vision, mission, values, goals and my

    management skills, Leader ship skills and styles further.

    1.2 My Vision

    My vision is to perform well and to be one of the best managers in a multinational

    Organization within the next 10 years.

    To build a strong relationship with the employees and the customers in order toachieve an effective improvement in the service field.

    To complete my HND and the Degree to be a graduate within the next two years. To enhance my communication skills, decision making skills, management skills

    within the next two years.

    To join a recognized organization within the next five years after obtaining thedegree.

    To open up my own business and to spread the business to different areas with at leasttwo branches within the next 20 years after starting the business.

    1.7 My Leadership Styles

    The leadership styles are divided into four main styles. Namely Autocratic, Supervisory,

    Democratic and Laissez faire leadership style. I am having the democratic leadership style,

    but in some conditions I use other leadership styles too.

    Leadership Style How/When I use them

    Autocratic Leadership Style The appropriate condition to use it is when I have all the required

    information to solve a problem, and when my peers are well

    motivated. I normally use this style until my peers or the people

    who are involved are familiar with the tasks.

    Democratic leadership style This leadership style suites the best. As I mentioned in the

    previous style, I apply the autocratic leadership style with my

    peers only when we are received a task or a group work. After

    that I use this democratic leadership style accomplish the task.

    When using this style to it is essential to listen to others, get

    ideas from others and work with the rest. In this leadership style I

    cannot do anything without others involvement. At the end the

    leader brings out the final decision. This is usually used when I

    have only a part of the information, and when my peers have

    other parts. One of the most important advantages of this

    leadership style is, it allows peers to become a part of the team

    and it allows me to make better decisions.

    Laissez faire leadership style In this style the leader allows the peers to make the decisions. I

    use this leadership style when my peers are more familiar with

    the tasks. When peers are able to analyze the situation and

    determine what needs to be done and how to achieve it. However

    as a leader (laissez faire) I am having the responsibility of the

    decisions that will be made.

    Supervisory leadership style I use this style while I am using autocratic and democratic and

    laissez faire styles. This style causes to increase the performance

    and team spirit of the group or among peers.

    Communication skills and time management

    As I mentioned above communication skills and time management will help me to set

    examples and also it will help to perform better and also to achieve good results.

    Problem solving

    When we meet different people with different ethics and beliefs there are more chances of

    ethics, problems and personal problems to rise so I must be aware of those. Ittakes time to

    know different people and work on different methods to handle different kind of people in

    different ways.

    Knowledge

    Since I want to work for a multinational company I know that I will have to learn the culture,

    ethics and information of other employees and workers manage according to handle them

    and also to have a good powerful relationship.

    A skill which needs to be practiced for the future development includes:

    Study on extra languages

    Working for a multinational company there will be different employees from various

    countries. It will be a must that that I will have to learn a few foreign languages and is now

    thinking of learning more in the future as well the culture.

    Education

    I know that the qualification at this moment will not be enough and is planning on getting a

    professional qualification like chartered institute of marketing (CIM) sooner in order to make

    sure that I will have a professional qualification. Along doing a degree in business

    management as well.

    Being not able to say no at the correct time has been a difficulty to me and improving this is amust.

    2.2 Weakness

    The main weakness I have is im very sensitive and also when it comes to decision making I take a lot

    of time to decide. Also another main weakness is not capable of saying no to anyone even if it harms

    me, and also a lack of concentration I easily get distracted by anything.

    2.3 Opportunities

    When I take my opportunities with the experience I have I can enter into the society easily without

    any hesitation.

    With me knowing some foreign languages and also having some connections in foreign countries

    through my friends and family I can get help from them to start up something.

    They are stuck because of this work based problem.

    Many customers complain that they dont get the full service so they change to other

    competing super markets.

    Training period for the employees. Recruiting staff. Send them for workshops. Conducting lectures to give a better knowledge of actually what they have to do. Having meetings to catch up with their lacking skills and to motivate them. Motivation and training - Overtime bonuses.
