since 2008. We are one of the few foundries in Russia that have a fully
certified management system to this standard. Our team at SEM’s care for the environment and customers can
rest assured that all products manufactured at our facility are
produced in an environmental friendly facility.
TECHNOLOGY
Continuous reinvestment in ourproduction facilities has allowed
SEM Foundry to becomeone of the Russian leaders of thefoundry industry. Resentinvestments include absolutelymodern melting and pouring shop(OTTO JUNKER GmbH melting andpouring furnaces), high-level-classSavelli s.r.l. sand plant andmolding line, AHB cold-box-amincore-making machine, newlaboratory equipment and tools.
Experienced professionals withthe latest technical equipmentmonitor and control the sand,melt and mold to assure highquality castings.
All iron covers are made to EU and Russian Standard Specifications –EN124:1994 and GOST 3634-99. This specifications includes loading categories
for certain application areas.
Group 1 – (Class A15 minimum) >15 kN – 1,5 tonnArea which can only be used by pedestrians and pedal cyclists.
Group 2 – (Class B125 minimum) >125 kN – 12,5 tonnFootways, pedestrian areas and comparable areas, car parks and car parking decks.
Group 3 – (Class C250 minimum) >250 kN – 25 tonnFor gully tops installed in the area of curbside channels of roads which, when measured from the curb edge, extend to a maximum of 0.5m into the carriageway and a maximum of 0.2m into the footway.
Group 4 – (Class D400 minimum) >400 kN – 40 tonnCarriageways of roads (including pedestrian streets), hard shoulders and parking areas, for all types of road vehicles.
Group 5 – (Class E600 minimum) >600 kN – 60 tonnAreas imposing high wheel loads, e.g. docks, aircraft pavements.
Group 6 – (Class F900) >900 kN – 90 tonnAreas imposing particularly high wheel loads, e.g. aircraft pavements.

FROM DESIGN TO CASTING – NO MORE 3 WEEKS!
SEM’s Foundry has its own in house, on site pattern shop. This provides us withthe quality patterns needed for excellent castings. Pattern making is a highlyskilled occupation requiring a thorough understanding of foundry process andtechnology. Our pattern shop and full-time patternmaker allow us to provide ourcustomers complete in-house facilities for pattern making. The pattern shop isalso able to repair customer supplied tooling and prepare it for our sand castingprocess.
This means that in addition to standard products we can provide bespokecastings to design from manufacturing drawings, repair and restore originalcastings, or reproduce castings where original patterns have been lost, damagedor destroyed. We are using 3-D CAD-CAM systems and high level equipment suchas 4-axis CNC-center by HAAS , 3-axis CNC-centers by Micron, CNC-turners byDaewoo and Doosan, EPM by Sodick, Mitsubishi etc.
