pantomime season is

here and the Manx

Operatic Society’s

latest production

promises to deliver

plenty of festive fun. This year, the society isputting on Robin Hood andthe Babes in the Wood at theGaiety Theatre in Douglasfrom Saturday (December 21)until January 4.

The production follows lastyear’s successful panto SnowWhite and the Seven Dwarfsand a successful Islandpremiere of Hairspray in2013.

Robin Hood and the Babes inthe Wood follows the story ofpantomime hero Robin Hood(played by Laura Pigott,pictured), and his Merry Menit stop the Sheriff ofNottingham's evil plot to

kidnap the 'Babes', Jack andJill.

Along the way Robin meetsMaid Marian (Anne-MarieCraine), the Sheriff's Ward,and falls head over heels inlove with her.

Of course the villainousSherriff, played by NigelThijs, will do everything tothwart Robin’s plans.

The show has all the classicingredients of a pantomime:a hero, a villain, a loveinterest and even a dame –Dean Callow as Nurse Norah.

It promises to be full oflaughs, with brilliant musicand special effects that havenever been seen before onthe Island.

A spokesman for the MoSsaid: ‘The society is delightedto be working with directorand choreographer Scott StMartyn again, as hisexperience and knowledge ofPantomime is second tonone.

‘Over his career, he hasperformed in and directedmany pantomimes and hisexperience and love istruly reflected.’
