MAP is an arts centre based in Leeds that oers young people access to art and music coursesand opportunities ranging from experience in graphics and illustration through to lyric writingand music production. Our courses are designed to engage learners through both individual andgroup projects, and as a local authority approved provider there are a range of qualicationsavailable to suit individual learners. All learners are supported in return to mainstreameducation, by returning to school, or progressing to further education.

We work with students to focus on developing the skills to support them in reaching their fullpotential. By providing a structured yet relaxed environment we have repeatedly seen learnersat MAP achieving the accredited qualications that not only enable progression but also help

build condence in students academic potential.

MAP sta have many years experience workingwithin their elds in the arts, and also withengaging young people who present a rangeof issues, from persistent non-attendance toemotional and behavioral disorders.

Next door to the MAP education project there is a gallery space that provides MAPstudents with a place to show their work to their family, peers & teachers. This isa great opportunity and really adds value to the experience of studying at MAP.The same gallery space is used by other artists at dierent stages of development

to exhibit their work (from Leeds College of Art & Design, right through to theEuropean Arts Academy), and MAP students have an opportunity to interactwith these exhibitions, the artists who put them on, and meet tutors from otherorganisations such as university lecturers - great for raising aspirations.

In the 2011-2012 academic year MAP students worked really well toward their qualication with

86% achieving their NOCN Step-Up qualications, 93% for ASDAN, and the Bronze Arts Award
