RCMP make plea for thepublic’s help.by Sylver [email protected]

Police are alarmed by thedegree of vandalism donewhen thieves broke into aMaple Ridge home Tuesday.

The criminal painted graf-fiti on the walls inside thehome, and caused a “sig-nificant” amount of physical

damage to the house unlikewhat they see at normalresidential break-ins, saidRidge Meadows RCMP Sgt.Dale Somerville.

“This type of crime isunacceptable in any com-munity,” he added, notingthe home is in the area of232nd Street and DewdneyTrunk Road.

The graffiti depicted whatSomerville described as“disturbing derogatory com-ments.”

RCMP are appealing to thepublic for help. If anyonesaw suspicious activities inthe area during the daylighthours on Jan. 3, they’reasked to call Const. SteveMcInnis at 604-463-6251.

A rude awakeningThe new year brought

more than new resolutionsto one family in MapleRidge on New Year’s Day.

People sleeping in anapartment awoke to a 34-

year-old man breaking intotheir home at about 10:30a.m. on Jan. 1, Somervillesaid.

The suspect alledgedlythreatened a man and thenstole some property belong-ing to a roommate who wasnot home, he explained.

“Police were able to learnthe man’s identity soonafter, and this led to thesuspect turning himself in atthe police detachment,” headded.

About 40 people took an icydip during the annual NewYear’s Day Polar Bear Swim atAlouette Lake.

First in the water was five-year-old Anais Minshall-Storm,and her mom Winter. The PittMeadows pair didn’t wait for thenoon start time before they tookthe plunge and splashed around.

A few minutes later mem-bers from two groups – RidgeMeadows Outdoor Club andAlouette Achilles Running Club– and a dozen others, convergedon the boat launch and lined upfor the countdown.

Some swimmers onlyran in and out of thefrigid water, while a fewothers were able to han-dle the cold a bit longer.

“This is the big-gest turnout we haveever had,” said CathyCaldwell, a RidgeMeadows Outdoor Clubmember and eight-timepolar bear swimmer.

“We had a nice walk up

Viking Creek Trailfirst,” said Caldwell.“It was a good-sizedgroup.”

When RidgeMeadows OutdoorClub president SergTouchette came out ofthe water he said hefelt “great.”

“I feel quite warmnow. The shock carries younicely,” Touchette said.

Fees for the disposal of organicswill be significantly lower than othertypes of garbage.

by Maria [email protected]

The local recycling society would like tosee green waste recycling taken seriouslyin Maple Ridge.

The focus in 2012 will be on divertingorganics and kitchen scraps from landfills, said Kim Day, executive director of theRidge Meadows Recycling Society.

“That’s a diversion effort asopposed to just garbage,” shesaid, adding that by divertingorganics, “people will have avery, very small amount of gar-bage.”

But diverting organics andkitchen scraps will not be cheapfor Maple Ridge, she said: “It’sa big-ticket item.”

In early 2012, Day would liketo present Maple Ridge councilwith options for green wastedisposal, pointing out thatorganic waste will be bannedfrom garbage pickup by 2015.

The regional tipping fee charged forevery tonne of garbage taken to wastetransfer and disposal facilities in MetroVancouver went up at the beginning ofthe week but the cost of dumping greenwaste is down significantly.

On Jan. 1, the tipping fee increased by$10 to $111 per tonne for waste droppedoff at the Maple Ridge Transfer Station, and $107 for waste dropped off at transferstations in other municipalities.

The tipping fee for regular waste isslightly higher for Maple Ridge as $4 pertonne is returned to the District to helpfinance its recycling programs.

This extra fee has been in place since1990, Day explained.

Meanwhile, the 2012 tipping fee bylaw– approved by the Metro VancouverBoard – set a $63 per tonne fee for “greenwaste” such as yard trimmings and cleanwood waste.

Having a lower cost for organic waste ismeant as an incentive to keep recyclablesout of landfills.

Kim Grout, Pitt Meadows director ofoperations, pointed out that in 2016 Metro

Vancouver will charge $205 pertonne for garbage tipping fees.

Pitt Meadows is planningto have organic waste curb-side pickup in place midwaythrough 2012, which will bedone by their current munici-pally contracted operator, WasteManagement.

In its business planning for2012, the City of Pitt Meadowswas expecting a $14 increase forwaste pickup.

However, the City was ableto reduce this to an increase of

only $9 to $244 per household.Councillor Bob Masse, who is just start-

ing his first term on Maple Ridge council, considers garbage pickup a basic publicsanitation issue, right up there with waterand sewer service.

Masse has said he would like theDistrict of Maple Ridge to provide munici-pal garbage pickup, and pointed out thatPitt Meadows was able to service eachhome for less than what he pays privatelyto have hs garbage picked up.

Masse said he pays $285 per year forgarbage pickup to a private company and$60 for blue box recycling service.

Masse said he realizes there’s a philo-sophical resistance in Maple Ridge tomunicipal garbage pickup – making home-

owners responsible for their own garbage.Day said the recycling society believes

that when people have to pay for garbageout of pocket, instead of on a tax bill, they recognize the value of recycling andunderstand the cost of garbage.

Hundreds who refusedto drink and drive weregiven safe rides home.by Sylver [email protected]

Once again, thousandsof Canadians made asmart choice and used theOperation Red Nose servicethroughout the holidayseason to get home safely– 427 of those rides werein the Maple Ridge-PittMeadows region.

During the 28th annualcampaign, 85,926 desig-nated-driver rides wereprovided in eight Canadianprovinces, including 7,696rides in B.C.

Throughout Canada,58,683 volunteers contrib-uted to making roads saferin 111 regions.

“Volunteers are atthe heart of OperationRed Nose,” said DavidLatouche, ORN communi-cations coordinator.

Volunteers in B.C. num-bered 4,241.

“Without their commit-ment during the month ofDecember, the awarenesscampaign could simply notexist,” added Latouche.

“We had a strongincrease over 2010 in vol-unteers,” said local ORNmanager Linda Palm.

“We increased from 197volunteer shifts to 283,”she said.

“We are still growing the[Ridge Meadows region]program. It’s only complet-ed its fourth year,” addedPalm.

The money made is upthis year to $10,200 from$8,000 in 2010, whichgoes to PacificSport FraserValley, an organizationthat supports local up-and-coming elite athletes.

In September 1984, LavalUniversity math professorand swim coach Jean-Marie De Koninck wantedto provide bursaries forstudent athletes and waslooking for an original wayto raise funds for his team.

After hearing the statis-tics of impaired driving on

the radio (50 per cent offatalities) and that peoplewere reluctant to leavetheir cars behind to cabhome, he came up with anidea that has grown nation-wide.

De Koninck summoned25 of his swimmers tooffer people who had afew drinks a drive home intheir own vehicle.

With the collaborationof police and CHRC radiostation, the first OperationRed Nose campaign waslaunched from Dec. 13 to23, 1984.

From a fundraising idea,De Koninck has developeda road safety campaignwhich benefits the popula-tion all year long.•More online at www.mrtimes.com

Opinion

The kids are in the car: mydaughter is monitoring her sociallife on her smart phone, a mis-nomer, as the device is used morefor activities that don’t involveactual voice contact with anotherhuman being.

My son is watching the latestShrek on the in-car DVD player. We are just a few miles on theroad into 2012.

The Wife is plugged into to hertunes and I am sneaking glancesinto the rearview mirror, lookingfor road kill and other detritusfrom the old year. Such as:

1) Elections: We had two last year, one in May,which saw the Harperites returned to power witha majority government – which means old Stiffcan do whatever he wants against a rookie-filled,Layton-less NDP opposition, a decimated Liberalparty and a nearly invisible Bloc Quebecois.Randy Kamp is back, proving once again that ifyou keep your yap shut and do whatever the BigGuy says, you’ll stay on the team.

At the municipal level a stunning 25-per-centturned out to re-elect good ol’ boy Ernie Daykinto the mayor’s chair along with a decidedly right-wing council, a victory for conscientious shopperseverywhere.

2) Constructions: Count on development con-tinuing at a pace established in 2011 with theconstruction of several apartment buildings in thedowntown area, a Thrifty’s Foods currently underconstruction, a hotel in the works down near thebypass, a new park, a bigger SPCA and the coupede grace, the razing of the drug-infested, crime-ridden heart of the ghetto, Northumberland Court– which will be replaced with townhomes andcondos. We might even see that casino this year,a place to go blow the kids’ college money.

3) Disruptions: The Canucks choked big timein the Stanley Cup final but our anger and griefover their loss was soon diverted by the sightof burning police cars and looting in downtownVancouver as disenchanted young fans expressedtheir remorse in a fit of rioting; among them a

local lad from a good family, anational-class water polo playerwho has been suspended fromthe sport for two years and hasbeen forced to play in Californiawhere the girls on the beach vol-leyball circuit couldn’t care lessabout hockey.

4) Rejections: We told the prov-incial Liberals to shove their HSTin a referendum from which newpremier Christy Clark quicklydistanced herself by pointing outthat it was Gordie Campbell’sbaby all along. To ease the pain

Stephen Harper gave Campbell a cushy job overin Britain as the high commissioner of somethingor other – which was almost as severe as beingforced to play volleyball in California.

5) Occupations: Motivated by a New Yorkgroup called Occupy Wall Street, a movementintended to highlight income discrepancies andcorporate greed in North America – between theone per cent who have most of the money andthe remaining 99 who have to buy generic – pro-testors in the Lower Mainland started occupyingthemselves with setting up tents and tarps inparks and in front of civic buildings in supportof their American counterparts. Here in MapleRidge, the protestors didn’t occupy much of ourattention in their feckless efforts at the MemorialPeace Park, sent home by the overwhelmingapathy of the citizenry.

6) Devastations: People continued to rob andkill one another, to drive drunk, deal drugs, livein the streets, abuse and misuse and refuse toobey the law. Other people, thankfully, continuedto volunteer their time to help the homeless, thehungry and the downtrodden, the victims and thevulnerable. Hopefully we learned something fromlast year, although the skeptical among us aren’ttoo optimistic.

In any event have a happy New Year, loseweight, stop smoking, be a nicer person, fall inlove, win the lottery; and if you don’t, it doesn’tmatter – this is the year the world comes to anend.

Our View

Good and badof assessments

Whether you like the provincialhome assessment numbers will dependvery much on where you stand.

Assessments are largely flat, going upor down a few per cent in the past year.

For a great many residents, especiallythose who have or are soon to pay offtheir mortgages, it won’t matter much.A few dollars worth of value is nobig deal after 25 or 30 years of steadyprogress towards burning the mortgage.

The people happiest with this seem-ing stability will likely be youngerpeople who haven’t yet bought theirfirst home. In the middle of the lastdecade, home ownership was an ever-receding goal, as double-digit priceincreases made ownership less and lessaffordable.

An island of stability will allow thosewho have saved up their cash to buyhomes, tie themselves more firmly totheir communities, and start buildingequity.

For those who were relying onan increasing home value to borrowagainst – well, the news isn’t so good. But frankly, the cost of housing in theLower Mainland has doubled in the lastdecade. That’s more than anyone whobought a home in 2001 or 2002 had anyright to expect. Someone who boughtland more than five years ago hasalready reaped a hefty dividend.

Property speculators are in the sameboat, but on a larger scale. Some ofthose landowners may kick and scream– and appeal their assessments – butthey call it speculation for a reason. Noone guaranteed that land values wouldalways go up.

In fact, what all groups of peopleshould be worried about is whether thisis a gentle landing after years of high-flying real estate prices, or the burstingof a bubble that we’ve been warnedabout for years.

Hopefully, it’s the former and not thelatter.

Dear Editor,Finally, somebody recently stated the

obvious by saying our courts are hope-lessly overwhelmed by so many cases.

And so few judges, making for a direnecessity for more judges. For at least 50per cent more judges – I’d say.

The sooner the better too.All too often, the Crown counsel’s office

is compelled to release the bad guys ofour world because they have been wait-ing far too long for their case to be heard.A defence lawyer will be saying, “Justicedelayed is justice denied.” Yup, and awaythey go – to do it again. We have a mean-ingless justice system that is really quiteirrelevant.

This is hardly news as it has been goingon for 40 or 50 years, and steadily gettingworse and worse.

The constitution and the Charter ofRights and Freedoms created this unholymess.

We now have a huge deficiency of judg-es. Trials need to be done in a much more

timely manner. Our prisons are vastly overcrowded.

Prisoners are routinely released, eventhough their sentence has not been com-pleted. No room for incoming people.Non-violent people usually get sprungearly.

Sexual predators, especially those con-sidered most likely to reoffend again, arereleased anyway.

That is truly disgusting and sick, too. This type of offender should never see thelight of day again. Yet, even knowing thatthey will likely reoffend – are released todo it again. Now is that sick or what eh?

Surely that is an example of the revolv-ing door justice system.

Well, they do have rights you know inorder to get out to rape and molest kids,do they not?

It cannot be surprising that the publichas little, if any, faith in the criminal jus-tice system.

How could it be otherwise, eh?Robert W. Stirling, Maple Ridge

Reaction

Autocracyis growingDear Editor,

Again Mr. [Wayne] Clark [Time fora federal election, Dec. 29, TIMES]offers criticism but suggests no solu-tions.

Yes, it does turn out that theConservative government is “closelyattuned the wishes and needs of theCanadian people.”

Canada is second in the world onlyto Germany in economic health.

An Angus Reid poll released recentlyreveals the majority of Canadians aresatisfied with their country.

Also 39.6 per cent voted for theConservatives rather than the 16 percent he quoted.

A majority over any other politicalparty. Mr. Clark stated, “It is time totell the governor general to immedi-ately dissolve parliament and everyCanadian voter to vote for anythingother than the Conservatives.”

It seems that we have in our midstour own little autocrat in the making.

Tax increasenot ‘doable’Dear Editor,

Residents of Maple Ridge, you do real-ize that our residential taxes over thepast six years have risen by about 30 percent? No, Ernie, for my family it is notdoable!

We are on fixed incomes and like manydo not receive raises every year. In fact,we haven’t seen a raise since 2003 – butwe did see a decrease of 15 per cent.

Perhaps this should be your question ofthe week.

“Is another 5.7 per cent increase in resi-dential taxes doable for you?”

Claire Rollins, Maple Ridge

Global affairs

Bleeding-heartsdoomed to fallDear Editor,

How many trillions have been wastedbetween Canada, U.S.A., U.K., and Franceand a few players on wet nursing wildcrooked lands who wouldn’t lift a finger tohelp us if we had a crisis?

The Middle East has a lot of oil-richneighbours (Kuwait, Saudi, United ArabEmirates) who do not help out enough.

Yet, our goofball politicians blindlybetray our own by engaging in asininewars while looking the other way to ourindefensible huge job losses, more pov-erty, homelessness, frail health care, andchronic abuses in the justice and immigra-tion system that are sickening.

We think our politics is better thanothers. Wrong. We have incompetent lead-ers, overpaid government officials, andwe’re throwing tax cash at global landsthat lack a will to stand on their own andexpect free handouts.

We desperately need to increase taxesof the filthy rich in Canada who mock uswith their unbridled arrogance and greed.

How dare we ignore poor First Nations, school closures, depleted fish stocks,no dental for 34 per cent of Canadians– while we butt-kiss foreign lands likeAfrica, Haiti, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc.

What got accomplished in Iraq? Little, assoon as we leave they will go rabidly wild– same with Afghanistan. Like Vietnam,– it was a war never intended for victoryand was all about lies from George W.Bush and others.

These cohesive leaders are no bet-ter than monsters like Saddam Hussein,Ghadafi, Assad, Mubarak, and others.

Who is next to act crazy while we play“global GI Joe” – Syria and North Korea?

We need to help Canadians not be a“bank or police force” for others whocannot be trusted. The new super pow-ers are China and India, as they do notget involved in global wars while, like theRoman Empire, the West will fall if we donot stop this “bleeding-heart syndrome” ofpolitical suicide.

The next war, let Mr. Stephen Harperand global leaders put their children onthe front lines but none of them have anymorals or guts!

Salvation Army’s CaringPlace still behind onfundraising goals.by Roxanne [email protected]

Just a few days beforeChristmas, the localSalvation Army churchreceived some great news.

The well-recognized ket-tle campaign had reachedits target and raised inexcess of $74,000, saidspokesperson AmeliaNorrie.

The bonus: the targetwas reached about a weekbefore the campaign endedon Dec. 24.

“The kettle campaign iscompletely volunteer-driv-en by a group of approxi-mately 150 volunteers whocover 7,500 bell ringinghours,” explained Norrie, who was proud of theaccomplishment.

“We want to take thisopportunity to thank eachand every person who hasvolunteered or donatedto our kettles and ourChristmas programs,”Norrie said.

“Every penny that isput into a kettle and hourspent volunteering goesback to serve the com-munity in which we live.We feel that Maple Ridgeand Pitt Meadows shouldbe proud of the amazingcontributions they havemade to make our town abetter place.”

The donations from thisyear’s kettle campaignare ear-markedfor thecommun-ity mealprogram,whichservedup morethan100,000meals thisyear.

said.“Thanks to the over-

whelming generosity ofour community, all ofthese items were providedby donations from the

caring hearts of our neigh-bours.”

In addition, the CaringPlace was also able to giveout 50 turkeys to familiesin need this year.

As a part of their adopt-a-family program, 207individuals were helped bythe 52 Christmas hampersprovided by the CaringPlace.

And on Christmas Eve,the organization alsocatered dinner for about500 at the ChristmasHaven, which this yearmoved from their facilitiesat Lougheed Highway and222nd Street, to The ACT.

The outreach effortsdon’t end at the end of theholidays, either, Norriesaid.

In addition to operatinga multi-functional facil-ity that provides food andsupport, as well as transi-tional housing, to peoplein need, the SalvationArmy also administers thecold wet weather bedsfor Maple Ridge and PittMeadows homeless.

WHAT IS THE ELECTRONICS STEWARDSHIPASSOCIATION OF BRITISH COLUMBIA(ESABC) PROGRAM?ESABC is a not-for-profit extended producer responsibilityprogram set up by the producers and retailers of electronics inBritish Columbia to provide a province wide recycling system forunwanted electronics.

WHAT ARE THE ACCEPTABLE ELECTRONICITEMS INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM?Effective July 1, 2010, the following items can be recycled free ofcharge at any Encorp Return-It Electronics™ Collection Site:display devices, desktop computers, portable computers, computer peripherals, computer scanners, printers and faxmachines, non-cellular phones and answering machines, vehicleaudio and video systems (aftermarket), home audio and videosystems, and personal or portable audio and video systems.

ISN’T IT IMPORTANT TO REUSE BEFORERECYCLING?While the program is designed to manage unwanted electronicproducts that have exhausted their reuse potential, we stronglyencourage users to first reuse their products. If you choose todonate to a charity, make sure you have backed up your data andwiped your drives clean prior to donation.

HOW ARE ELECTRONICS RECYCLED?Electronics collected for recycling are sent to approved primaryrecyclers in North America. They are broken down using variousmanual and mechanical processes. Products are separated intotheir individual components for recovery. Through a variety ofrefining and smelting processes, the materials reclaimed fromunwanted electronics are used as raw materials in themanufacturing of new products.

But we do. Here’s where you can recycle them safely and free of charge in Pitt Meadowsand Maple Ridge:

Tim Stephens' Astral Reflections January 8 - 14, 2012★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Aries March 21 - April 19: Ambition still rules. Impressyour boss, start important career or business projects, work hard, seek promotion – or, in the other sense, promote yourself in the community, advertise, raise yourprofile, attend prestigious events. Some surprises awaityou Sunday/Monday, especially in home, real estate andother foundational, security zones. (But in crisis there isalways opportunity – ditto here.) Romance, affection andbeauty face you Monday night to Wednesday. Thursday andFriday are packed with luck in work (and indirectly, career)– accept, perform, seek employment.Taurus April 20-May 20: Casual relationships (includingsiblings) are unpredictable Sunday/Monday. Take care withspeech and driving. Family, property, security and retirementconcerns flow in a steady, mildly productive current Mondaynight through Wednesday – a good time to iron out roughedges or settle prior uncertainties. This entire week bringsmellow feelings toward others – a perfect backgroundfor the strong and lucky romantic vibes that fill Thursday/Friday. If single, you could meet the one you’ll love. If you’reattached, children, creative, pleasure and speculativeventures win and please!Gemini May 21-June 20: Mysteries, nuances, sexualliaisons, investments, dealings in secret, research, detectivework, power plays, collusion, debt and similar depths arelucky in the short term (e.g., Thursday/Friday) but facean ultimate barrier if you dive into them before Jan. 20. Ifyou make a commitment or a lifestyle change now, it willsucceed splendidly for awhile, but ultimately wrestle youinto disappointment. So take care, be “light” – protectrather than expand. Romantic feelings are safe, sex not.Protect your health. Money’s unruly early week. Property, home, gardening reward late week.

Cancer June 21-July 22: Your energy and charismafly high Sunday/Monday, so impress people, and enjoyyourself! But be prepared for some surprises, even irksomepeople. Chase money Tuesday/Wednesday – all’s smooth, productive, though you’ll need long-range vision/wisdomWednesday night. Communications and travel succeedThursday/Friday – either can lead to love, affection, understanding with others, resolution of conflicts – evenfinancial and career success (Thursday). You will begin alove, domestic, property, or social project. A new friend willarrive. These might not be immediately apparent.Leo July 23-Aug. 22: Lie low, rest and contemplateSunday/Monday. As this is a work month, you’ll probablyface some overdue chores. Well, tackle them. Your energy, mood and effectiveness improve strongly Monday nightthrough Wednesday, and you accomplish easily. Chasemoney during a very lucky Thursday/Friday. You might begina new employment or job project. You’re also enamoured ofsomeone, but your fascination might only last a month. Becautious in driving and speaking Saturday night. All week, focus on work efforts, health, nutrition, diet. Be helpful. Yourcareer and status are headed upward!Virgo Aug. 23-Sept. 22: Love, romance, creative andspeculative urges, talents, teaching children, pleasure andbeauty fill this week and the next. February will begin one ofthe major relationship phases of your life (lasting to 2025).If you’re single, this would be a good time to contemplatewho, what type of person, you want for the decades ahead.Sunday/Monday accent your wishes, optimism, buoyantfriendships and popularity. Love could reach mushyheights – or one splits, one forms. Retreat midweek. Rest, contemplate. All’s well. Your energy and charisma soarupward Thursday/Friday – take a chance!

Libra Sept. 23-Oct. 22: Some relationships or projectsend now, some begin. Concentrate on your security, family, real estate, soul, stomach, nutrition. Unhappy Librans oftenhave digestive problems. Not that you’re unhappy – butpresent times do push you to make significant alterationsin these same areas: security, home, diet, etc. A tug-o-war might arise between outside ambitions and homecircumstances Sunday/Monday: tread cautiously. Yourhopes, popularity and general joy rise midweek. Retreatto rest, contemplate and plan Thursday/Friday – contactgovernment or institutions for lucky results.Scorpio Oct. 23-Nov. 21: This week bringscommunications, travel, paperwork and the details of dailylife. You might run into legal, moral or travel dilemmasSunday/Monday. You’ll be able to convince a mate (aboutmoney, future plans, socializing, even love) but not a co-worker, Sunday. Be careful with machinery. Follow yourambitions Monday night through Wednesday – quiet, productive days. Your optimism soars Thursday/Friday, asfriends call, strangers smile, and a wish could come true.Almost everything’s favoured: love, friendships, even work.Don’t start a realty or reno project. Retreat Saturday.Sagittarius Nov. 22-Dec. 21: Keep your focus on earnings,buying/selling, possessions, and rote learning. This is a goodtime to memorize anything, such as a foreign languageor school facts. Avoid big finances, debt, investments– and sexual forays – Sunday/Monday. A lot of potentialdisappointment lurks. (One good thing, Sunday morning:work and pay.) Your outlook brightens Monday night throughWednesday as intellectually compatible friends/lovers – andunderstanding – waft your way. Far travel, education arefavoured. Your career and worldly status are splendidly luckyThursday/Friday: charge ahead!

Capricorn Dec. 22-Jan. 19: Your energy, effectiveness, timing and luck fly high, so start important projects, seekattention of important people, ask favours, and chargeforth generally. However, be cautious Sunday/Monday,when others oppose your desires and intentions. You’d winany struggles, probably, but why make enemies? Life’smysteries and depths rise to the surface midweek. You canmake progress with finances, research and, personally,by being intimate. Legal, intellectual, learning, far travel, cultural, love and similarly “elevated” zones hit a streak ofsuper luck Thursday/Friday – go!Aquarius Jan. 20-Feb. 18: Continue to lie low, rest, contemplate and plan. Be charitable. Your energy andmagnetism are at a yearly low, but they’ll bounce back intwo weeks. Meanwhile, this is a great time to shore up yourfoundations, especially Thursday/Friday. Those two splendiddays urge you to chase any/all foundational things: buya home, invest, improve your health or seek a diagnosis, undergo therapy, change your lifestyle, or share intimacy.Earlier, machines, chores and health need caution Sunday/Monday. Monday night through Wednesday brings calmrelationships, quiet opportunities.Pisces Feb. 19-March 20: A wish, particularly abouta relationship, love, an opportunity, relocation, litigation, negotiation, or dealing with the public is very likely to cometrue this week, particularly Thursday/Friday. Two qualifications:1) it might not be the same wish you anticipate; and 2) thesetwo days could also lead to a fight instead of joy, if you acttoo independently or competitively. Then again, a fight coulddissolve into respect, laughter, even love! The remaining weekis nothing great. Be cautious in romance and pleasure Sunday/Monday. Tackle chores midweek. DON’T invest Saturday.
