International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health Ver.2(WHO 2001)
Disability is a interaction between health condition and contextual factors

Why map for universal design?
Persons with disabilities tend to get minus spiral interaction by interference to participate society.
- Universally designed social infrastructure is needed so
that they can participate society for themselves.(自分自身で社会に参加できるようインフラ整備や配慮が必要)
If you look around the city
imagining the view of persons with disabilities,
you will find something new objects to map.

2 point of view on mapping for universal design
1)Appeal bad design/barrier to municipality or shop owners.(バリアーを指摘し関係者にアピールするもの)
-Think about universal design together
2)Using as a navigation system
Search at home before going out(外出前に自宅で調べる)
・Carry a paper map(紙の地図を持ち歩く)
・Carry a smartphone(位置情報を取得できる携帯端末を持ち歩く)
A solution for example
Problems of the usual barrier-free maps in Japan
1)Continuity(継続性)
Is this information right?(今、この情報は本当に使えるのだろうか?)
Lastupdated: 1998
Problems of the usual barrier-free maps in Japan
2)Reuse, openness(再利用性、公開性)
-Can we use it next year?(今年作ったものは来年度も継続して
-Can we reuse it on other systems?

3)Users and use cases(利用者と利用シーン)
-For whom? For a person with disability or for a helper?
-Do they use it at home or outside? 外?)
-Types of disabilities(障がいの種類?)
Feature of OSM
1)You don’t need money or qualification to join.
-Persons with disability can participate for themselves.
Feature of OSM
2)Originally universal(もともとユニバーサルである)
-free & open
-Unified tags(世界共通のデータ記述法)
Feature of OSM
3)Anyone can map (地図を誰でも描ける)
Findings
1)OSM can help persons with disabilities to go out for themselves.
2)They can use map and also they can tag for themselves.
Thank you
