rules, red morocco lettering piece in the second

compartment. Housed in a modern half brown morocco

box.

The third edition of the first American pocket atlas,

significant for its new cartographic and textual information

relating to the Louisiana Purchase and its map of the region

published during the Lewis & Clark expedition.

of Faden's battle plan of the Battle of Valcour Island, one of

the rarest of all printed battle plans for the American

Revolution: this an unrecorded issue with explanatory text

giving an account of the battle.

earliest maps issued by the General Land Office.

A lovely Homann composite atlas with full contemporary

hand-colouring and including many scarce city plans of

major European cities.

Manuscript map, 18 x 33 inches. On wove paper. Hand-

colored. Two joined sheets. Old folds. Some ink burn at the

neatline, causing separations. Light wear and soiling, a few

small tears at edges. Small losses at central fold, affecting a

few letters of legend.

Handsome and highly detailed manuscript map of Port

Louis, the capital of Mauritius, done in pen and watercolor,

showing the town, surrounding countryside, and the

harbor, with many points keyed and identified in the

accompanying legend.
