February has been an eventful month for the children in Ms. Jaclyn and Ms. Jessica’s class. The children enjoyed playing in our “pizza parlour”
dramatic centre, working on creative art activities and enjoyed the bit of snow we had. The children have been learning new yoga movements during our group time and have become quite good yogis. We will continue to learn more complex movements.

During the month of March we will be learning about pirates and have the opportunity to create a pirate ship, pirate eye patches and flags for pretend play. We have created a wonder wall, w h i c h
is displayed, outside of our room. Throughout the month we hope to find all of the
answers for these questions and will share what we have learned. March is filled with quite a few events including St. Patrick’s Day, March
Break and Easter weekend. We will be focusing on these
exciting events and have an opportunity to create artwork to reflect them. We will also
be learning about springtime and how it affects animals and plants. We are looking forward to a fun filled month of March and some warmer weather. Enjoy your March break and have a wonderful Easter. Thank You Ms Jaclyn and
Ms Jessica

The month of February has been filled with winter fun in our room. The children enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day. For Chinese New
Year, we created a big dragon using paper plates. The students did a great job! We learned about the different animals that represent each year, and the children each got their own red envelope with a coin for good luck in the New Year. We celebrated Valentine’s Day on the PA day with special crafts & some yummy cupcake baking.
We have also learned about food and nutrition and worked together to create a grocery store in our dramatic center. The children
h a v e continued
to impress us with t h e i r c r e a t i v e
skills and have enjoyed a variety of open ended creative activities. We have begun incorporating jolly phonics into our circle times, and we are exploring different letter sounds in the alphabet
together. We will continue with our jolly phonics until we have covered all letters in the alphabet. We are now looking forward to March, which means March Break is just around the
corner. This will be a fun filled week with trips and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations for those children who attend. Please ensure that you have returned your form indicating your child’s
attendance for March break, summer time, and next school year! Thanks for all your continued support.

The month of February has been a month of
celebration as our themes included Chinese New year, Valentine’s Day, Family Day and Pet week.
Throughout the month, the grade ones created Chinese lanterns, Valentine’s crafts, and Friendship bracelets, as well as they enjoyed painting with snow paint and exploring science activities. Students continue to play and enjoy our outdoor activities. They were
busy building their forts and snowmen. We are encouraging parents to provide their children with splash pants and rubber boots for outdoor play.
We would like to congratulate Carson, Lucas Aldana, Camden and Erika for being the students of the month for February!! Great work! We encourage everyone else to keep on their hard work to improve their responsibility and organization skills.
Our children will continue to
do their homework and reading the books during the time of Homework Club.
As we prepare for March, Students can look forward to engaging themes such as Spring, St. Patrick’s Day, March break and Easter. We are planning to explore our neighborhood and observe spring changes. The children will celebrate Easter with crafts and chocolate treats.
Thank you!Ms. Larysa & Ms. Katherine

February flew by but was as fun as ever. As usual,
our themes allowed the kids to explore creatively through fun crafts and cool experiments. During Wild West week, the children made their own sheriff badges and painted venomous rattlesnakes. We learned about static and the power of vibration.
We then spread the Valentines spirit by making cards for our friends and families, we also made crafts that were influenced by Valentine’s Day and heard
stories that ignited the meaning of this love filled day, just to name a few.
Star Wars week started off cool with light saber freezies. We made our own Yoda ears and Chewbacca hand puppets. We embraced the space theme by creating delicious constellations out of marshmallows and toothpicks. Daily challenges for ‘Absolute Geniuses’ allowed the kids to challenge themselves and win prizes. The last week of February theme was about our
long extinct friends the dinosaurs. Each day we learnt facts about them and the time period, which they lived in. The grade 2’s and 3’s made dinosaur fossils and read stories about what might of caused their extinction. They got their hands messy in making dinosaur fossils and took on the job as a paleontologist in recovering these fossils. Overall, February was yet another successful month of learning and growth for both students and teachers.
Thank you.

The month of February has been a busy month for
everyone in the grade 3 & 4 group. We explored our creative side through many different media. We used fruit by creating fruit animal heads, traditional drawing and colouring for Valentine creations and snow globe designs and technical ingenuity to create our own Star Wars BB-8 droid.
We also began exploring our talents in the culinary arts as it were. We had two great experiences where students made their own snack for the
group. We learned to crack, beat and whip eggs to make French Toast. Oh La La. Magnifique et délicieux. We then had the opportunity to whisk a batch of Death Star Pancakes. The force never tasted so good.
The students in the drawing club are enjoying there time creating different characters and learning the building blocks to creating their own super hero or villain. We are coming to an end the drawing club but the fruits of the students labours will soon be up for all to see. Look
to the display cases near the gym in the coming days for the new creations these amazing budding artists have created.
The month of March looks to be a fun filled month for everyone. March Break, Easter, the Vernal Equinox are only a few ideas we are looking to explore. We will be looking to the students to take the lead in letting the teachers know what they would like to explore. There maybe a lot of days off during March, but that won’t stop us from pushing the limit on what fun and interesting things we can explore.
Thank you!Ms Jenny, Ms Joyce & Mr. Paul

Greetings from the 5 Stars. February was
a month of showing love. Our team reached out to the younger children of the Satellite family. Big shout outs to Shelby who braved the cold with the grade 2 crew. Naz and Lia both enjoyed the challenge so much they decided to ventured out twice. Tiana and Rowan stepped up to hang out with
the kindergarten and grade one crew.
Congratulations to Kasie and
Q u i n n t i n for being
s e l e c t e d as the 5 Stars of
the Month. We have several students who reached their goals for the month and will participate in device and treats day.
The group is trying to
connect with the Daily Bread Food Bank and Haven on the Queensway to see how we can be of service to out community. We are hoping to roll up our sleeves and help sort food. We will be collecting personal hygiene items for the homeless, and gently used books for children.
We know that it’s a blessing to serve, and serving is a blessing! To all our families *Stay Blessed!
