Financial Stewardship In the second reading today, St. James has harsh words for those who do not put their faith into
action. May we be such good stewards of God’s gifts to us that we can never be accused of having “faith
that does nothing in practice.”

Stewardship: Parishioners
Answering God’s Call A parish family sold their home over the summer and, at the closing, offered to give the buyers contact information for local families who had children in the same age range as the buyers’ children. This would enable the buyers children to make some friends before school began. As it turns out, the new family has also joined Prince of Peace parish.
Please submit your stewardship story examples to [email protected].
They may be edited for space consideration.
Casting Lots
for the Seamless Garment Nebraska and the Death Penalty
Breaking news comes from the state of Nebraska, whose legislature recently over-rode its governor’s veto and voted to abolish the death penalty there: the governor has led a campaign to collect enough signatures to put the question on the state’s November 2016 election ballot. The repeal will be on hold if enough of these signatures are verified as valid. The results of this potential referendum could have widespread repercussions, and pro-life reasoning has been common throughout this state’s debate. (Consistent Life Web Page, issue #275 - 08.28.15) For more information on the Seamless Garment
Ministry, please contact Tom & Elsbeth Germanson at 205.565.3456.
Wednesday Dinners Join us at 5:30 pm in Deasy Hall for dinner. Adults and teens $5, children $3, those 7 and under eat free. Come for a delicious meal and fellowship. We resume Wednesday, September 16. We look forward to seeing you here!

Centering Prayer Workshop Saturday, September 19
Do you need some quiet in your life? Would you like a deeper prayer life? This prayer, beyond words, images, and concepts has been part of the Christian Contemplative tradition for hundreds of years. It is also called “resting in God,” or the “prayer of consent.” In this workshop, instructors from Contemplative Outreach will teach the Centering Prayer method.
Registration costs $30 and includes lunch. The workshop goes from 9:30 am - 2:30 pm. If you would like more information or to register, contact Ken Wade at [email protected] or call 205.822.3776.
Food Pantry Items Many, many, thanks to those who so generously contribute food items on the weekends and at the School Mass on Wednesdays for the food pantry. We ask that you check the expiration dates of your items before bringing them to church. Items that have passed the expiration date must be discarded due to public health regulations. Religious Education “Be Inspired...Share Your Stories through Catechesis”
There is no point having all the knowledge, insight, and wisdom of the ages if you cannot inspire anyone to activate these in their lives. Nobody does anything worthwhile until they are inspired. The Spirit at work always stirs our emotions to the heights of inspiration. We need to inspire people to live life to the fullest (cf. John 10:10). We need to inspire people to follow Christ. We need to inspire people to get involved. Pope Francis has called all Catholics to Action by his inspiration and leadership to evangelize and truly spread the Good News. Please consider sharing and inspiring our youth by teaching Sunday School! I will help you with all the materials and resources to make you successful. We need 10 teachers for grades K3-1 (8:30 and 11:00) and 15 teachers for grades 3-8 (9:40-10:50). Classes begin September 20. Contact Megan Everett at [email protected].
