From Fr. Davy’s Desk: This weekend is between the celebrations of the feasts of Ascension and Pentecost. The readings today help us to reflect upon the power of the Holy Spirit. From the first reading we read Saint Peter filled with the Spirit standing up in the midst of the people and preaching powerfully. At the end the first election happened. They elected Matthias to substitute Judas and he was counted with the eleven apostles. This Mother’s Day Saint John through the second reading reminds us, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him. Mother’s Day reminds us the unconditional love of a mother. Mother carried us in her womb, gave us birth, nursed us, imbued faith in us and shared everything with us sacrificing her energy and time for us. Mother stands with the children in success and failures in laughter and mourning. Let all mothers be blessed and mother Mary be role model to all mothers. The Gospel reminds us the beautiful and powerful prayer of Jesus. Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed. This prayer shows the perfect union of the Holy Trinity. As we prepare for the feast of Pentecost, let us pray earnestly to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit to be consecrated to pray, practice and preach being witnesses to the Word of God. Las lecturas de hoy nos ayudan a reflexionar sobre el poder del Espíritu Santo. Desde la primera lectura leemos a San Pedro lleno del Espíritu levantándose en medio de la gente y predicando con fuerza. Al final, la primera elección sucedió. Eligieron a Matías para sustituir a Judas y se le contó con los once apóstoles. Este Día de las Madres San Juan a través de la segunda lectura nos recuerda, si Dios nos amó tan-to, también debemos amarnos unos a otros. Dios es amor, y quien permanece enamorado perma-nece en Dios y Dios en él. El día de las madres nos recuerda el amor incondicional de una madre. La madre nos llevó en su vientre, nos dio a luz, nos cuidó, infundió fe en nosotros y compartió todo con nosotros sacrificando su energía y tiempo por nosotros. La madre se encuentra con los niños en el éxito y los fracasos en la risa y el luto. Deje que todas las madres sean bendecidas y la madre María sea un modelo para todas las madres. El Evangelio nos recuerda la hermosa y poderosa oración de Jesús. Alzando sus ojos al cielo, Jesús oró. Esta oración muestra la unión perfecta de la Santísima Trinidad. Expectant Mother Care

Baby Bottle Drive

This weekend, there will be a baby bottle drive for the babies and mothers helped by Expectant Mother Care (EMC). EMC is the largest and oldest pregnancy cen-ter organization in the NYC area. EMC empowers girls and women in the NYC area to courageously choose mother-hood, and by helping support her and her unborn child, EMC honors the sanc-tity of every human life. This is a wonderful opportunity to be in-volved in the pro-life cause. When you leave church after Mass to-day, please take a baby bottle from the back of the Church. We ask that you take one home for your family to fill with donations. Please return the bottles by Father’s Day June 17th.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to be Lectors and Extra Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
