May Newsletter Dan Megard, President FROM THE PRESIDENT…. Thank you to everyone who attended the president’s party on April 28th. Dana and I had an excellent time. The attendance was very good. Mike and Jay provided nice background entertainment. The hors d’oeuvres were great and our food off the menu was very good. The waitressing staff did an excellent job in handling such a large crowd. Mother nature hasn’t been the most friendly in April. We have had three significant snows in the first portion of the month. This has not only affected the number of rounds played but the utilization of our club. This does affect the bottom line of Hillcrest with less utilization of the restaurant, lounge and pro shop. Please remember Hillcrest when planning a night out with friends, a business lunch or other opportunities to utilize our club. Last year, the board gave the members an opportunity to fill out a survey monkey on what you want to see as improvements in Hillcrest in the coming years. One of the most recommended projects was the improvement of the 7,8 and 9 ponds. If you have been on the course this Spring, you are seeing that project coming to fruition. Another project that may become a reality this fall or winter is an improvement in the front door and awning. We are looking at extending the awning out over the driveway as you enter Hillcrest. This would be a wooden structure with roof and provide protection from rain and snow when someone is dropped off. It would also include a new front door as you enter through the main entrance. Other big ticket items for down the road include redoing the men’s and ladies locker rooms, pro shop and snack shop as well as the 12,13 and 14 ponds. Please contact a board member for input, questions or concerns on these or other projects. Your board consists of: Ryan Elwood, Linda Frick, Devin Anderson, Tony Erickson, Pat King, Aaron Ness and myself. Now get out and enjoy all that Hillcrest has to offer! MAY 2018

FROM THE COURSE...................... Not the greatest of starts but considering the length of

winter and late snows I expected either some snow mold, or some of the usual freeze thaw damage in low areas we

commonly see but the course avoided those conditions. Getting around the course will be a little challenging when conditions are wet and it is worth noting that driving across areas that were ponds last fall will be soft for some time yet. The cart path on 7, 8, and 9 are complete for now and 9 cart path should be used to get to both 9 and 7 fairway. Crossing the construction on 8 can safety be done on the East side of overflow pipe through

the month of May. If your traveling to and from the course from the South I suggest using 18 cart path and Burleigh Street. With all the spring snows and runoff 8 pond never over topped which would suggest that there will be few rain events where water will actually run over 8 fairway. We will continue to seed and get all areas of the golf course back into regular condition including the bunker on 12, stump holes, and 7 collar.

Just a reminder that your club’s hours have remained consistent for a number of years now and you can expect us to be open at 11 AM Tuesday through Friday and 5 PM

on Saturday for dining all year long. The lounge opens at 11 AM Tuesday through Saturday, and at 12pm on Sunday, April through October. Hillcrest is not open on Monday.
