Observe all local plumbing and building codes.
Shut off the water supply.
Seat post holes are on 140mm (5-1/2") centers.
51mm (2") passageway.
Water depth from the rim is 147mm .
Ensure that the new drain has the correct roughing-in
dimension. This toilet has a 305mm (12") roughing-indimension. .
Closet flange must be 305mm (12") on-center from wall.
Carefully inspect the new fixture for any sign of damage.
For new construction, refer to the dimensions in
for locating the shut-off valve.
Fixture dimensions are nominal and conform to tolerances
established by ASME Standards (A112.19.2-2003).
: Handle vitreous china products very carefully.Vitreous china can break and chip if you overtightenbolts and nuts.
. The fill valve nuthas been factory-tightened to design specifications. Ifre-tightening is required, wrench tighten one turn pastfinger tight .

TO REMOVE EXISTING TOILET
Turn off the water supply. Flush the toilet, and use a sponge
to remove the remaining water from the tank and bowl.
Disconnect the supply shut-off valve (if present), and remove
the old tank and bowl.

Remove the old gasket from the floor
and the closet flange with a putty knife.
Remove the old T-bolts and discard
them.

Install two new 8mm (5/16") diameterT-bolts into the closet flange.
Do not use white cement orhigh lime content cements to installthis toilet. The expansion of cementdue to a rise in temperature may makethe toilet crack or cause damage.Kohler is not responsible for anydamage caused by installation with theuse of cement.

TO INSTALL SUPPLYSHUT-OFF VALVE
Install the supply shut-off valve so it is127mm (15") above the finished floorline, and 130mm (7-5/8") to the left ofthe closet flange centerline.
The centerline of the supply shut-offvalve outlet should extend 67mm(2-5/8") from the finished wall. Installthe supply shut-off valve with the outletvertical.
TO INSTALL BOWL
Set the bowl upside down on somepadding. Firmly press the toilet gasketonto the toilet outlet.
Wax ring type toilet gasketshould not be installed at temperaturesless than 21 .
If you are using a toiletgasket with an integral plastic sleeve,make sure the gasket is positionedwith the sleeve facing away from thetoilet.
If you temporarily plugged the closetflange with a rag, remove the rag atthis time and ensure that the drain pipeis clear and free of debris.
Carefully align and lower the bowl overthe closet flange and T-bolts. Apply fullbody weight to the bowl rim to set theseal.
Do not lift or rock thebowl after placement - a newtoilet gasket must be installed ifyou break the watertight seal.

Assemble the bolt cap bases, washer,and nuts on the exposed T-bolts.Handtighten the nuts, then tightenthem an additional 1/2-turn.
overtightening may causebreakage or chipping of thevitreous china.
If the T-bolts extend more than 6mm(1/4") over the top of the nuts, cut offthe excess and file the end. Wipeaway any residue. Install the bolt caps.

IMPORTANT:
Make certain the top is turned to the lockedposition. Valve may not turn on if top is not fully in thelocked position.
Before turning on the supply valve for the firsttime, follow the steps below to clear sand, debris and rustfrom the system:
Make sure water sure water supply is off. Remove valve ENDby rotating it 1/8 turn counterclockwise.
While holding a container over the uncapped VALVE to preventsplashing, turn water supply on and off a few times. Leavewater supply off.
Replace END by engaging lugs and rotating 1/8 turnclockwise.
Turn on water supply. Check that water level is at the markedwater line.

TO CONNECT WATERSUPPLY
* Flexible hose (not provided) arerecommended to connect the supplyline to the fill valve. If you use a rigidconnection(not provided), take carenot to apply side forces to the bottomof the fill valve. Be sure the rigidconnection must be fit with supply linecompletely to prevent damage shankby forced connection.

Attach the toilet seat according to the
installation instructions included.
Open the supply shut-off valve and
check all connections for leakage. If
the connections have been properly
assembled, a slight retightening of the
nuts should stop any leakage.

FILL FLOAT WITHBALLAST
Adjust the float by the cross-shapedthread and sliding it up or down on thefloat rod until the water level is at themarked water line.
Test flush the toilet.
Check all connections for leakage forseveral days.
Set the tank cover in place on the tank.

COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION
Install the trip lever if one is not already installed. Follow theinstructions packed with the trip lever.
Connect the supply shut-off valve to the toilet supply shank.
Open the supply shut-off valve slowly to check for leaks. If theconnections have been properly assembled, a slighttightening of the nuts should stop leakage.
Install the toilet seat according to the packed instructions.
Carefully set the cover onto the tank.
Flush the toilet several times and check all connections forleaks.
Periodically check for leaks for several days following theinstallation.

SYMPTOMS
A. Adjust flapper chain assembly for proper slack.
B. Inspect, clean and, if necessary, replace
flapper ball and/or seat.
PROBABLE CAUSES CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. Float valve turns on/offby itself without toiletbeing flushed.
A. No slack in flapper chain assembly, holding
flapper off seat.
B. Flush valve flapper ball worn, dirty or
misaligned with flush valve seat; or seat
corroded so flapper will not seal.
A. During fill cycle, hold float under water a few
seconds to allow it to fill with water ballast.
B. Adjust the cross-shaped thread on float rod
until water level is at marked water line.
A. Valve float cup does not contain enough water
to provide required ballast.
B. Float height incorrect.
4. Long or noisy tank fill
cycle.
A. Perform Corrective Action 2.A.A. Plugged valve inlet or supply line.
A. Adjust water tank level.
B. Unclog trapway; clean rim holes.
C. Clear obstruction from soil pipe or vent.
D. Open supply shut-off valve.
A. Water level is too low.
B. Trapway or rim holes are obstructed.

5. Poor flush.
A. Toilet trapway is obstructed.
B. Soil pipe or vent is obstructed.
A. Use plunger to unclog.
B. Clear obstruction from soil pipe or vent pipe.
6. Toilet overflows.
7. Toilet does not activate. A. Reconnect the chain.A. Chain is not connected to lift rod or flush valve.
2. Float valve continues torun, allowing water toenter tank.
3. Incorrect water levelheight.
A. Foreign particles lodged under the float valveseal (located under float valve cap).
B. Float valve seal (located under float valve cap)may be cracked or split.
C. Tank water level set above overflow level.
D. Water leaking past flush ball.E. Trip lever binding, holding flush ball open.
A. Shut off water supply; remove float valve capassembly by rotating 1/8 turn counterclockwise.Cover uncapped lower valve unit with aninverted cup (holding it to prevent overspray),and turn water on and off a few times. Cleanfloat valve seal surface (located under floatvalve cap). Replace float valve cap assemblyby engaging lugs and rotating 1/8 turnclockwise. Turn water on. Install filter in supplyline to prevent recurring problems.
B. Replace seal.
C. During fill cycle, hold float under water a fewseconds to allow it to fill with water ballast.Adjust float by adjust the cross-shaped threadon float rod and sliding float up or down onfloat rod until water level is at marked waterline.

CONSUMER RESPONSIBILITIES
If you live in a hard water area, make certain that the holes inthe toilet rim are kept clean to ensure proper bowl flushing.Toilet bowl cleaners should be used at least once a week.Use a long-handled brush to clean the rim holes, and to cleanas far into the trap as possible to prevent mineral depositsfrom forming.
Most toilet bowl cleaners are not harmful to the vitreous chinasurface of the toilet bowl. Please follow the bowl cleanermanufacturer's instructions carefully.
Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
Do not use in-tank cleaners. Products containingchlorine (calcium hypochlorite) can seriously damagefittings in the tank. This damage can cause leakageand property damage.
Kohler Company shall not be responsible or liable for anydamage to these tank fittings caused by the use of cleanerscontaining chlorine (calcium hypochlorite).
