A message from BREVARD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

BPS Families,

As we have seen, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to create an environment

where change happens rapidly. Our core focus is educational continuity and

keeping our students and staff in our schools. Due to the increase in COVID cas-

es in our community and our schools, we have updated our safety guidelines for

extra-curricular activities and we wanted to share that information with you.

Field Trips

In-county, large group (grade-level, school-wide) field trips are suspended as least

through September 30, 2021. In-county or out-of-county travel for athletic

events is permitted with the proper approvals in place.

Homecoming

A traditional Homecoming dance with DJ and dancing is suspended. Administra-

tors will work with teacher leaders and/or sponsors to develop safe alterna-

tives. Spirit weeks, homecoming court elections, etc. may still be conducted. The

leadership team at the district level have made this difficult decision based on the

increase in COVID cases in our community and our schools.

Indoor Sporting Events

Spectator capacity is limited to 50%.

Auditorium Use – Performances, Class Meetings, Etc.)

Auditorium usage is limited to no more than 50% with maximum social distancing

protocols in place.

We’d like to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you for your patience and

your understanding as we work to keep our schools as safe and healthy as possi-

ble. For a list of other mitigation strategies in place in our schools along with

other helpful information, please visit www.brevardschools.org/COVID-19
