The primary goal of the MetronetInformation Literacy Initiative is toadvocate for the integration of theMEMO Recommended Standards
for Information and TechnologyLiteracy in Minnesota schools andto advance the teaching of
information literacy skills in theclassroom. To do this, Metronethas created teacher / mediaspecialist training that focuses on
the 5 steps of the research processand incorporating the Three Rs— Research, Reliable Resources, and
Responsible Use—into classroominstruction. Web 2.0 tools — blogs, wikis, online collaborationtools, and more — are included in
the instruction in context andwhere using these tools enhancesstudent learning and teaching.

* Required minimum of 10 teachers/media directors to participate from each level(elementary/secondary) of the program.
*A teacher is not able to participate in the program if their media director does notparticipate. Collaboration is key.
